I am letting my bridesmaids choose whatever dress they want to wear and I am just giving them a color. At first I was thinking green, but now I am thinking silver. My only caveat is I don't want them to be "bridesmaids dresses." I am not dressing traditionally at all and I want their dresses to be fun and funky and something they would totally wear again (hence my not posting it in the wedding section). But now I am looking around and I can't find any silvery/grey dresses...maybe I should just stick with a kelly green. Do you girls have any silver/grey dress suggestions?
this is just my opinion, but most of the silver dresses i tend to see that arent holiday party dresses tend to veer on the hooch side of things. (although i do think that dress posted could be cute, if accessorized right)
i think green is a really nice choice, but when is the wedding?
I was just looking around and I have noticed the "hoochiness" of silver dresses. The wedding is Sept. 17th, but it is outside in the woods. I was thinking green dresses with all that green background might be a little too much green.
the thing with silver is that it is also probably the single most difficult color on earth to wear. it looks really bad on just about everyone, so you BM's probably wouldn't be too stoked on it.
what kind of vibe are you going for? post some dresses that you like the style and we can help you with a color. if it's going to be outside in a wooded area, i agree that a deep green might not be the best choice.
i think green would be nice against the background. (if the leaves have started turning/etc) a nice chocolate would probably look lovely with the background as well.

This is what we're doing - as long as the dress fabric isn't a matte jersey or something it should be fine. We're going with a chocolate satin, but that might be a bit formal for your setting. I'll see what I can find.
This is pretty much all I found in the way of silver/gray dresses.
Something with an antiquey/beaded overlay might make the silver/gray color more wearable, too:

Thank you LMonet!! I liked a lot of the brown dresses from bluefly. I think I am going to go with 3 different colors for the bridesmaids (since I have three) and do chocolate brown, a dark lime green and either a baby blue or yellow. I was inspired by a pillow on my couch last night that has all of those colors. I guess inspiration can come from just about anywhere
