a dark purple (not quite plum but almost the color of a real grape (as opposed to fake grape medicine color))? I'm not really that picky about matching (I like to mix colors) but it doesn't look right with a single thing in my closet! TIA

I have some dark purple pants that I like with a seafoam color or lavendar. Actually for spring, I think lots of pastels would look pretty. Yellow, light green, even a mango-ish color would look pretty and fresh with the color I am picturing. But I could totally be on the wrong track. Can you find a pic of your item online anywhere?

Oh, sorry, its a bag. I swear I'm going senile at an extrodinarily young age. Anywhoo, its a little tote with two shoulder straps and a satin ribbon sort of woven at the top that ties in a bow right under the handles.
The ribbon is basically the color of the left half and the bag is just a shade lighter.
I do like the idea of seafoam. Would it still go with the color above?

Sounds cute! Yeah, I think seafoam would look great with that. I think if you start trying it on with different colors (like just hold it up in the mirror to see what it looks like with whatever you are wearing that day) then you will get a good idea of the colors you like it with. HTH!
