so today is my day off, so i went to the gym this morning and ran some errands (on bike), but i had my eye out for people wearing sandals. there weren't many of them. however, did did see a woman wearing knee high boots with a skirt and that didn't seem right either.
today is sunny and the high is 76. should i be wearing sandals? i hate when i see girls wearing short skirts and flip flops the first day it gets warm. it's my pet peeve.
so anyone with similar weather(or chicago girls) are you wearing sandals? for some reason i still feel it's too early, but it's been nice for a couple of days.

dress shoe sandals or like flip flop sandals? I wouldn't wear casual sandals until memorial day, but for dressier stuff I think its ok if its in the 70s!
I'm in Chicago too and I have on my Holly Pitchers today. Wear your sandals girl!! Take advantage of the weather while it is good. They are saying 50 on Thursday!!

i personally don't break out the sandals until i know that i can keep wearing them for an extended period of time. but that's mainly b/c i don't have a lot of extra space in my apt. so i would have to dig out all my sandals and put my boots away until next fall. as of right now i'm not wearing sandals (i'm just happy to be able to wear cropped pants & skirts without having to put on boots or stockings) but i will probably make the switch (weather permitting) in the next 2 weeks or so when i have time to rotate my closet.
My rule is that the projected high temp must be over 65. For me, it's so confusing to dress in LA because the weather doesn't match the seasons (I don't like to wear summer clothing in winter) and I'm so used to working with my clothes dependent on the season. I just wear sandals when I don't think my toes will freeze off.
I hate this time of year when it is day to day. Two weeks ago I wore sandals, today I'm back in black tights and knee high boots because it is really cold again.
I actually like Lilykind's rule of the projected high temp of 65, I might have to adopt that system.
I like in Chicago and I wore ballet flats today...but Saturday I wore my new C ronson sandals...I feel that if we are lucky enough to get weather over 60 in April, I am going to take advantage of it and wear sandals...
Where I go to school, girls wear minis and flip-flops when it's 55 degrees outside (like today). I wear sandals when it's 50 or above if I'm running errands or going to class and don't feel like putting on real shoes. So if it's 76, I say you're more than entitled to wear 'em
Shopgirl82, that is my pet peeve too! I don't know why I'm so against it. Maybe it's cause I'm from South Carolina where it is HOT ENOUGH for so many months and I get so tired of the mini/flip flop uniform. . .
Anyway, I think 76 is pretty safe with sandals but go with your gut--if it feels funny, you probably will feel weird, but if you're ok with it, work it!

I totally agree! I hate when people wear flip flops when it's below 50 degrees and cold! It looks stupid if you're all bundled up and wearing flip flops!
Anyway, 76 is plenty warm to wear sandals. I've already broke them out. Isn't the rule after Easter or something. If it's warm, and you're not cold, wear them.

Haha the funny thing is that it used to be my biggest pet peeve. But after 7 years in San diego I catch myself doing it now.

I totally agree - I live in Chicago too and it was so nice today how could you not wear sandals? I had on flip flops today. We should take advantage of the nice weather while we have it. Chicago is so screwy w/weather - you should just wear them while it's nice!
I live in Delaware and went to high school with a girl who wore sandals year round and I told her she must have a hole in her head.
Beyond that I think at 76 degrees you're fine and no one can question you wearing sandals. I have a rule that over 70 I'm fine with sandals. Enjoy the great weather.

Living in the pacific NW has changed my perception of "warm." If it's nice enough for me to take the top down on my convertible, it's sandal wearing time. which means like 60 here.
As soon as frostbite isn't a risk (I live in Iowa)
I hate, hate, hate socks and shoes so I'm ready all year to wear sandals.
I am also guilty of wearing sweatpants, beater, tshirt over that, hooded sweatshirt over THAT and.....flip flops. I like to consider it slight "ventilation" for the outfit...LOL
If there's still snow on the ground I don't, but if I'm running out for a quick errand and there's no snow and it's only 40, I'll wear flips as long as the rest of my outfit is warm.
I've worn sandals a few times. If it's above 60-65, then I'm fine. I hate socks and shoes and wish I lived somewhere that I could wear sandals and flip flops all year.
