I posted a question about a pair of boat shoes for my lil' man and appreciate the responses! Now, I'm wondering about getting some for myself. Does anyone know anything about these. My husband is part of a coaching staff for a local high school team and it seems like all of the students and some of the "fashionable" parents are wearing these type shoes. It may simply just be a "trend" in my area and it may have come and gone in other areas. I'm just wondering if anyone else is seeing this and if so do you know the brand that most are buying. They all look similar on the ones I've seen. I'm thinking it may be a cute alternative for a tennis shoe for me on a casual day with Hayden!
yes, I have seen this. yet another 80's trend revival. back in the day, the boat shoes to have were sperry dock siders, as well as bass. I would imagine people are probably wearing sperry...

I have a pair of these and so does my boyfriend. They're great because they're comfortable (although you do have to break them in) and they can get wet. I wear mine instead of sneakers or flip flops. You don't necessarily have to get one of the "trendy" prints, I like just brown because they will be easier to match to things.
I bought a pair of sperry's last summer, we lived in a college town in MO and they were everywhere. They are pretty comfy and cute enough with casual outfits. Most of my summer wear has a preppy base to it so I got a good amount of use out of them. They are really well made and can last forever!
I have a similar style in blue that I got from Payless last year. Of course you probably couldn't find that exact pair now, but what I liked about mine is that the profile is pretty low so it seems more feminine and less clunky to me than the topsiders D posted.
ignore my wonky bows...they're usually horizontal :)

this is so funny - so last night we went out to dinner with a few couples and one of the husbands were wearing these shoes. As soon as we get in the car my DH says "what the heck was with those boat shoes x was wearing?" I had to laugh because I thought they were awful too.
Not a trend I like at all , just to yuppy feeling for me.
