while i am in the mood to post pics, i thought i'd also post this one and ask if anyone has ideas on how to make this outfit pop. i like it but it really needs color. the only ideas i can come up with our black tights and a colorful bag (like the magenta m by mj one i posted the other day - but sadly do not own) or colorful tights, but what color and would that be too bold/trying too hard??
Personally I'm not a fan of crazy-colored tights. If you're going to have your bag on you the whole time (like if you're shopping, etc) then a bag could do it. But if you're going to work, going to a party, etc. I'd try do to it with something else.
Maybe patterned tights with an interesting pattern/texture instead of a crazy color, or a big chunky bracelet. I'm having a hard time seeing the collar, but would a necklace work with it? Maybe you could layer some necklaces with a bit of sparkle or colorful pendents?

thanks! yeah i would have a shoulder bag with me most likely as this is just a little day outfit. i see what you mean about colored tights - maybe i'll try patterned tights although i'm skeptical that a pattern would add too much depth to my legs!
love the idea of a chunky bracelet.
the collar is a very loose cowl neck - not sure if a necklace would work unless it's a big chunky one. thanks for the ideas!!

Silly girl! I was just going to comment on how great your legs (and your figure overall) look! Back to your question, I love grey with yellow, hot pink, green, or orange accents. Do you ever wear wide headbands/scarves in your hair? That dress would be cute with a bright patterned scarf in your hair and a substantial, fun bracelet.

I see it with a fun, wide belt worn below the empire seam (it is odd to wear not on your waist but can look really cute!) Also some fun colorful chunky bangle bracelets.
A good way to add color but stay somewhat safe would be to go with a muted color. For example, instead of clear magenta, you go with dusty plum or slate instead of turquoise. I always like cream and gray too.
I think adding pattern and/or texture will be helpful.
I love Vanessa's idea of a colored headband and also I think the chunky bracelet or layered necklaces would look great. Lots of colors like yellow, magenta, bright teal could look cute. Also you could definitely pull off textured tights- your legs are great!
another option would be to pair it with gray tights for a monochromatic look & then add fun shoes, pink or yellow would be a good segue into spring. something along these lines could work.
wow, thanks everyone for the help and the compliments! i'm so excited about all these i deas!
vanessa--i love the colors you suggested and think they would go with it. i'm not very good at wearing scarves in my hair - i have hair that's long and layered/texturized, and it doesn't look that good pulled back (on me) but maybe i should experiment. love the idea of a chunky bracelet.
xtinastyles - like the belt idea and will have to try, thanks!
pollyjean - thanks for the suggestion of adding muted colors. i'm not very bold so that may work well for me!
stardust and boots - love the idea of the layered necklaces and will def. try it!
honey - also love the idea of pairing grey tights with bright, fun shoes, thanks!
suasoria - you have a good point about adding details vs. color
D - love love love the idea of a 70's necklace, as i love almost anything from the 70s. i'm thinking maybe a huge locket or something - and copper would be really fun! i will definitely search for that! also, the pin idea would be cool too.
thanks again everyone! oh and more suggestions are always welcome!
