Hey guys! I'm trying to get out of a fashion rut and nonposting rut. I've mainly lurked off and on the past year to try and keep up with everyone. I can't believe the number of new babies. Wow! D made me realize in another thread that I hadn't really posted I was engaged. So I guess I have a lot of posting to do and need to drag out a few photos.
So I got engaged last May at the Houston Zoo (in front of a cute animal - the Koala) and I've been planning off and on for my July wedding. I think I am the most unexcited bride when it comes to planning the actual wedding. It seems to be driving everyone but me nuts. I guess that is one way to keep from turning into a bridezilla.
So I guess I need to share some pictures and planning with yall. I should be posting in the next few days help on dressing and styling myself and my groom for the honeymoon. His idea of vacation attire is khaki cargo shorts and tshirts and I just don't want to trapse around Europe looking like that. So I need to budget new clothes in over the course of the next couple of months so I don't have a shocker of a CC bill.
So originally I thought this would be my big Memorial Day Weekend Present - a present to myself with my work bonus - gotta love the surprise work bonus and the new outlet here in Houston.
But instead Mike overshadowed it at the Zoo. Here is the typical blurry photo of the ring. No matter what I tried I couldn't get a clear shot.
Not too shabby since I picked it out 3 months earlier at the store
We are going to start in Venice and stay for 4 days thanks to a great deal on Priceline.com and then we are boarding a cruise and going to Crotia, the Greek Isles, and Turkey for 8 nights. It should be a lot of fun.
The dress but not the headpiece or veil.
BM dresses:
And we are doing pink and orange gerber daisies and not much else has been decided fashion wise.
your trip sounds fabulous! I love Venice (a bit stinky though) and Greece. Croatia and Turkey have been high on my list. I hope you post pics when you get back (I know that's not until July, but still )

I know! I have always dreamed of getting engaged at the zoo in front of a "cute" animal. So he did well. And that is where we are doing our reception. It will be at night and indoor/outdoor.
Yes that is me in the dress. That was right after our trip to Disney and our pre-vacation vacation thanks to Hurricane Ike where I managed to put on 10 pounds. So I'm down 6 of those and have 15-20 to go. I am fighting busy season though so it's rough.
Congrats! You look beautiful in your dress! I am getting married in June and my dress came in yesterday! I can't wait to try it on! Question for you, have you looked into preserving your dress after the wedding? I think it is pricey! I recently found that with your JCPenney registry, they offer a significant discount for preserving your dress - Have you looked into this yet?

I have not even thought about it. I just found out my dress came in this week and I have to go pick it up. I have no idea where I am going to put it. I also have to go claim my wedding band that we bought last week and had resized. I'll have to go check that link you posted.
Oh the wedding bands! We are in the middle of that too and I am so indecisive! You are so lucky you found yours! Definitely keep me posted what you are planning on doing with your dress afterwards - it is a great deal with JCPenney. Are you registered there?
I haven't even really thought about registering. I did a small registry at Crate and Barrel earlier this week when I went on to buy a friend of mine's wedding gift and noticed the nice glassware they have and the not too shabby prices.
I totally failed to check the fees at Alfred Angelo's when I was picking my dress up last Sunday. Maybe I'll see if I can pop in in the next week or two and see how much they charge.
