Well, it has come time for my first prom, and I have quite a few questions that I know you girls could help me with.
As of now, I plan on wearing this dress. However, I CAN return it for something prettier/more appropriate/whatever, but I have looked for weeks, and this is the only dress that I have felt is most representative of me, which is what I want.
sideways, sorry, I can't fix it... :(
The bodice
The hem
Now, on to shoes. I'm not crazy about the ones I'm wearing in the pictures. I can afford to buy either of these which I am in love with, but am unsure of whether they go with the dress--
#1
#2
Here are some other options for dresses that I like-
What do you girls think? Some things that might help to know-- my hair is dark brown and I plan on wearing it down and wavy, my style is very bohemian and different, and I really don't want a typical prom dress.
Thanks so much. I know all of this is so immature, but it means a lot to me...
I'm still in high school too so I know the pain you are going through to find a non-promish prom dress (no poofy "princess" gowns for me, thankyouverymuch). The one you have is nice but maybe not formal enough? I think the last one you posted is very bohemian and different but also more appropriate. I can totally see it with long wavy hair and maybe some strappy metallic flats. Maybe do the Kate Hudson flower behind your ear thing? I don't really know if that's your style but if you tell me more I'll try to help you out (ex. Is there a celebrity whose look you really like?).

Amelie, I think the dress you have is gorgeous. I would have killed to have a prom dress like that! It's chiffon, right? I think the chiffon makes it dressy enough. I'm not sure about shoes right now, I might get back to you on that

I think all of the dresses are really pretty, but the last one seems more special-occasion than the other two. I think it would give a really romantic, bohemian, special look, while still being very dressy and this-is-the-one-prom-I-get worth it. But whichever on you choose, I hope you have a great time!
I love the dress you have on in the first photo - it is so gorgeous and unique! The black one would work also if you change your mind. The last one is also very pretty but maybe not as unique? I think either of the shoes you posted would work. I actually kind of like #2 the best but would have to see them on. I wish I had had your fashion sense in high school!
I love the first dress! It's beautiful and formal but completely different from everyone else. I like both shoe choices; I'd really go with whichever is most comfortable.

I love your dress. I think it's way cooler than the other two. I wore a dress of a similiar level of formalness to my prom last year and I felt much cooler than anyone else in their floor lengthe dresses. I LOVE those Gucci shoes, too bad they are $$$$.
Amelie, I love that dress and I love the way it fits on you. I think that you should go with whatever you're most comfortable in and forget what everyone else is wearing.
I'm really not sure about the shoes though, because I'm drawn to #2 but would have to see them on.
Well, I think I'm going to wear the red/brown dress with the gold sandals, but buy the other shoes too, because I really want them. That way I can see which looks best, but no matter what, keep the second pair :)
Thanks everyone sooo much! I'll make sure to take lots of pictures at prom!
Maddi--
Can you believe it, those 'Gucci' shoes are a knockoff! $48, so I can afford them. I have wanted them forever but could never do the $625 tag.
