Oldlady or chic?

McCall's has their new patterns out at this one caught my eye.  It reminds me of BR, but at the same time I am afraid though it might be oldladyish.  The skirt suit is what I am looking at:

Hmmmm. I think something like that really depends on the colors and accessories. I like it on her, with her belt and the white/orange, and her sandals and belt. But if it was in a floral pattern without a belt or with less "young" shoes (young compared to the shoes my grandma wears, at least!), I think it would look really old-ladyish.

Agreed about accessorizing to keep it young.  It's a good classic style but selecting the right fabric is going to be important on this one!

I think the blazer is too long. I think if you made it to look more like it "shrunken/shortened" blazer it would look more modern and wore a chunky waist belt.

It's a classic style but it all depends on the fabric you use whether or not it's going to look old lady. Also like others have said, the accessories are what's going to make the look too.

I agree that if you shorten the blazer it will look a little more fresh.

you know, if your mainly looking at the skirt - I don't think you can go wrong with a pencil skirt - I think they are sexy and will never really go out of style
