I live in south Alabama and our winter is pretty much over except for maybe one more cold spell. Beginning in about a couple of weeks and on through April, we usually have temps in the 70's during the day. Every year this is a frustrating time for me because I really don't have that many transitional clothes. The only thing I can think of is pants (which I need more of) and long sleeve shirts. That combo just seems so uninteresting. I would like a couple of lightweight 3/4 sleeve blazers to wear with camis, but I don't want to sink my whole budget into them because it will be hot pretty soon and then they will just hang in the closet.
I thought about just buying a couple of trench coats and wearing them over my short sleeve top/cardigans for cool mornings. How does that sound? Any other ideas? Thanks.
I'm in Texas & I'm going through the same thing. I bought a 3/4 length sleeve white jacket & denim jacket, and figure between that & cardigans I can layer my newer spring items - I got them for $12 on a clearance rack at Target. But I'm like you, I hate that because I feel like i'm in a "uniform". I went from tanks & hoodies to camis or tees & 3/4 sleeve jackets.
I like the idea of buying a few trench coats - you should be able to get some pretty inexpensive right now - Old Navy had this one (photo below) on sale for $20 and a few other bright colored ones for $25. I hadn't been looking for them until this weekend so I haven't seen any on sale elsewhere, but I'm sure they are out there.
I'm trying to hold out for it to get warm & stay warm, but I agree - it stinks for the time being.

I am in the same situation. I just mostly try to make it through these types of temperatures. The only thing I can think of is 3/4 sleeve lightweight jackets and 3/4 sleeve thin cardis over camis. A trench would be a good idea, but I would get one that would blend well with most of my wardrobe.
If you decide to go with the longsleeve shirt and pants outfit, you could spice it up by adding a sash belt and a beaded necklace in a color that is not so "matchy".
i'm in south carolina and i whine about this every year. i just bought a few LS tees from old navy, and some caridgans and that seems to help out alot. i'm not really a big help in this area, because i usually just suffer.

I have a lightweight cotton jacket from Urban outfitters last year that I lurrrv. I would find maybe a cute cotton twill jacket or blazer, and layer a cardigan and tank or 3/4 lenght sleeve tee under it. Just wear layers. I actually prefer transitional weather because you can play with clothes more and it's soooo nice when its not too hot or too cold outside!
Here are some cute layering pieces:
french terry- so its soft and comfy
I like the asymmetrical button up and zip in the middle
someone posted this and I LOVE it in all three colors for diff. purposes
cute little ruffle coat
maybe a cozy sweater hoodie in a spring color?
this blazer is already lined with a hoodie
this you can take into summer as a beach coverup or for breezy nights
