I have an interview coming up and want to make an interview outfit that wasn't too expensive. What do you all think of this?? I am so up in the air with this that if you all don't like it, it won't hurt my fellings.
I swear by Express for my work clothes. And also, because of senior college classes, I have a pretty good idea of what kind of things to where to what interviews.
What kind of job are you interviewing for? Is it a large or a small business?
I'll post some ideas once you can give me an idea.
That's a cute outfit BUT I really think you should wear a suit. Do you already have one? If not, I'm sure the girls on this board can find you something afforable and professional.
My advice is to invest in a suit. You can mix and match your pieces for work outfits as well.
For banking you definately need a suit, and unfortunately I would err on the side of conservative. You can't even wear open toe shoes at banks, I know I used to work at one, and boy was that hard in the summer. That even included in the offices. If you don't have the money for a suit a button down blouse and tailored pants are necessary. The best colors are blue and black. It might even stretch it to go with a brown.
Here's an idea of what it should look like:
I know its bland and boring, but so are banks!
I recommend Ann Taylor or Express. Express' pants come in 3 lengths and they are only $68. The dress shirts are about $50 as well. Which is pretty affordable for something that you will wear to work a lot.
I agree with the others... for banking a suit is a MUST! Definitely check out Express, Ann Taylor, and also try Macy's and other places like that. I found an awesome H by Hilfiger suit for only $85. But a good suit is something you can wear forever. Also definitely get a skirt suit. I feel like pants suits (especially from Express) are a little more trendy than corporate.
I definitely think you need to wear a suit for a bank interview. My bf works as a loan officer for a bank (previously a branch manager) and he wears a suit everyday to work, except on casual Fridays. Go with a suit. Check Express, Limited, Banana and JCrew. Good luck at your interview!!!
i, too, recommend the suit! i would also check TJ Maxx for Elie Tahari (my favorite suits of all time!) or other suits... you can usually score a pretty decent one for a good price...
for my last interview for the job i have now, i sprung for an Elie Tahari suit and I felt like a million dollars (probably because it cost about that) and i got the job! i swear it is my lucky suit!
