Which Shoes Are Worth Your Money?
Permalink Closed

I saw this in Shop Etc... I was leaning towards that all of them were worth the money (if I had it!!!). What do you ladies think? Which are worth the money and which can be substituted with a less expensive option? The Shop Etc article featured different shoes but these were the best I could do!

Manolo Blahnik $465

Jimmy Choo $485

Christian Louboutin $666

Tod's $325

Chanel I don't know the price $375-425?

I would probably buy the Choos out of those, but I also like the Louboutins. I just don't do animal prints.

i think it really depends on what you have in your closet and what your lifestyle is like.  for me, i would pick the first and last pairs, because they would be versatile with what i tend to wear and where i tend to go (work, shopping, out to dinner).

i think i'd go for the louboutins or the chanels. since it's a splurge, i'd want a pair that was truly splurge worthy and the louboutins are definitely a killer pair of heels. if i were to go the cost per wear route i'd choose the chanels, but they're so pretty i'd still feel special everytime i slipped them on (which would probably be everyday).

Well it really depends on you.  My mom doesn't buy expensive stuff so that when they get messed up over time, she can easily replace them.  But if you're the type to keep something forever, then sure.  But keep in mind, instead of buying the Christian L. shoe, you could take a 6-day cruise..

I dunno...my shoes are not from payless or anything, but I just don't know that I could spend that much money on something that spends all its time on the dirty ground

Now, if they're on sale...that's a different story.

None of them.  You can find good shoes for a lot cheaper.

I agree with Halleybird. Although if you must, the first and second pairs are the most classic and you would prob get the most use out of those.

I agree.  If you're going to being wearing a shoe *a lot* and know yo'll get a lot of mileage out of it, then you'd want a really comfortable, sturdy, well-built one...so if you were going to splurge I think it would be wisest to go for the most versatile ones, the Manolos or Choos you showed.

Of the shoes you posted, I think the Manolos and the Chanels are the most classic and have a lifetime of wear in them.

I can't wear most Manolos (dratted wide feet ), but they styling is so classic and the particular pair you picked would probably be super-comfy and very practical. You'd wear them until you were dead or maybe until the podiatrist stopped you from wearing them.

I don't care for the styling of the Choos and I think the Tods could easily be substituted with a less expensive option.

I the Louboutins madly and while they're totally spurgeworthy IMO because they're gorgeous, I personally wouldn't pay for them because they don't fit into my lifestyle at all.

Chanel ballet flats go for $295(the basic ones)-$395. I think they're worth it because you'll get so much mileage out of them and they're very well made. I have a pair of old black ballet flats that were given to me by a good friend. She bought them in 1987 and wore the crap out of them until she gave them to me last year (says she's too short for flats now...) and I'm wearing the crap out of them now. They still look nice when I put black shoe polish on them, although I will probably try to get them resoled when I go to the cobbler. Everytime I put them one I get a little smile on my face because they're just such nice shoes and I them. I have entertained the idea of getting another pair to replace these (maybe I'll return the black Target pair...I don't like to skimp on classics).

I personally don't think I could spend that much money on shoes....ever. Unless I was a multimillionaire.

I have those Manolos and they are so comfy and versatile.

I didn't buy them tho, and if I was laying out my own $$ for a pair of shoes I'd go with the Louboutins.

The Manolos. You'll always love basic black pumps. The quality will pay off in the long run, I think.

The Louboutins are the only ones I would buy.

If I had the money, the Manolos and Choos.  I don't like the print on the Louboutins.  Don't care for either of the flats.
