I'm not sure. I mean if it won't fit the other way (both on one line) then I think the way you are doing it is fine. I think it goes Husband then wife but I'm not 100% sure.

starstuff, isn't your wedding in october? why are you addressing envelopes now?
if they are for engagement party invitations or even save the dates, the etiquette rules are usually looser for those types of things, so i wouldn't worry about it. when the time comes for you to address your actual wedding invites, you can use the crane's guidelines then.

I wouldn't worry to much if the envelopes are addressed "wrong". I don't think I would even notice or care how the envelope was addressed if I were receiving an invitation. Don't spend too much time worrying about it.
