What is proper etiquette for sending out thank you cards after a shower or a wedding? My BFF hasn't sent out any cards yet and it has been 1 month since her wedding and 7 weeks since her shower. Would it be rude of me (as the BM) to try to gently remind her to get cracking? I was thinking of maybe offering to help her write them, she is a massive procrastinator and I'm not sure if she will do it otherwise.
I don't think it would be rude, especially if you bring it up with an offer to help. I'm a procrastinator and a nudge to get my butt going on something is usually needed.
(Slaps forehead.) I would have sent the shower notes after the shower! Most of our gifts were shipped/mailed before the wedding, so I felt obligated to "confirm receipt" by sending a TY immediately.
eek! I feel like the bad bride here. I DID send out TY cards after my shower within the week - I had ordered them in advance. But it's been just over 1 month since our wedding and I haven't sent out most of our TY cards yet. Reason - we wanted the photographer's wedding photo files to send out a photo TY card. We shoul get them in a week and send them after we get back from our honeymoon. Do you think 7 weeks is terribly rude if will be followed by photo TY cards?
I think the official 'rule' is that you have 2 months after the wedding to send your Thank Yous, taking into consideration that some of that time will likely be spent on a honeymoon and/or possibly moving into a new place (one or both). We got alot of gift cards for our wedding, and it took us awhile to get everything sorted and put away (a much more massive undertaking than I expected!) and figure out what we still needed, then we went and completed alot of our registry with the GCs. That way we could write 'Thanks so much for the GC, we were able to buy a great toaster/blender/plate with it!' instead of just writing 'Thanks for the money'.
I would have been really really excited if one of my bridesmaids had offered to help me with the Thank Yous - it's a tedious task, and could be made alot better with a friend!
