I made a detour coming home last night into my local Marshalls and it was covered with tops from the brand Zara. Who is this/where would it normally come from? I've never heard of it but they had some cute stuff.
I was good and refrained from buying anything but they had a really cute blazer by them in a light pink so I might go back. Its been a rough week so the shopping ban might bend a little.
Zara is a spanish store that only has a few branches here. Really cute stuff- wish they had it at Marshalls!!There is a pair of shoes there that I'm dieing for! www.zara.com
Zara is a Spanish store with stores all over Europe and some in the US (mostly on the East Coast, but they have one in Houston now and are opening one in LA soon).
They usually have great stuff - it's kind of like a European BR.
I really love Zara. I have a few items I purchased from the South Coast Plaza Store. Never have seen in at Marshall's though. It seems like everywhere but here Marshall's carries cute stuff like designer jeans...*sigh*
I LOVE Zara but didn't know it was sold outside of their own stores. They are great about copying designer styles really quickly after they come out ont he runways, and their prices are fantastic. I used to go all the time in NYC and am psyched b/c one is opening in LA soon.
i love zara too! just wanted to chime in... hehe! i've been to the vegas store after hearing good things about it. also i've gone to the south coast plaza store in "the oc", but the santa monica store should open any day now if it's not already. SCP told me that the SM store was supposed to open in mid-january, anyone know if it's open yet? i guess i should look for myself, i live a few blocks from the promenade!

Crystal, not yet as of last weekend... I am eagerly awaiting :)
I have been wearing Zara since 1997 when I was an exchange student in France. It is a very popular brand in Europe... I was so excited when I moved to New York and found the Zara store on the East side.
Their clothes are great quality and very well priced. I love wearing their style to work (the perfect business casual brand).
Half of my closet is Zara, I was just at the South Coast one last night, bought a blazer on sale for $29.99 and skirt for $14.99. Their sales are great. I'm so glad that one opened here because when I would go to New York or Vegas I would spend like $600 at a time. They have long pants that I usually can't find anywhere, so I really stocked up. They also have cute shoes, but sometimes the quality isn't as great. Also, I got tons of awesome belts on sale. I can't believe they have it at Marshalls now, I will have to check it out.

I think I spent every weekend in November and December walking right by the Zara store that was boarded up and not opened yet.
I've liked everything I've seen there, like H&M but more refined and the stores are actually in some sort of order, which is nice. They do make the perfect place to get business casual stuff.

i totally second this.... i love that their pants are long! thanks mara for the update, i know what lilykind means about walking past the store a thousand times. i guess i shouldnt' be so eager cuz once it opens i'm gonna be there all the time! i hope it's as nice as the SCP store... i mean the promenade has a way different clientele who is more likely to throw things on the ground & make a mess. i'm also worried that it will be uber-packed! hopefully all the teeny boppers won't know what it is & let the "old folks" get a crack at some good business casual finds.

I don't think we'll have too much to worry about, but I'm probably speaking prematurely. I think it will probably attract a similar crowd that goes to the Bennetton store and the Bennetton on the promenade is always impeccable. Same goes with the Club Monaco...I don't think it's possible for CM to be in a state of disarray. I tremble the day when H&M comes out here...it'll be like a week of bliss where only people who know about the place shop and then the second someone ventures in randomly and finds the $14 shirt, we're all doomed...
The only places where I start to get frightened on the Promenade as far as messes are concerned are the most mass appeal places or the companies that have flagship stores...I think I could get an anxiety attack going into Old Navy or the Gap. And let's not even start with the Urban...I actually PREFER the tiny one that we have in Westwood because it's not nearly as messy (and also beacause I can walk to it).
And when I used to go to the New York Zara, I was always frightened because I felt like I was too young to shop there (I was 17) because I didn't need to dress in any of the stuff Zara makes.
I wish I could find Zara at places like Marshalls...the Marshalls in LA is always so picked over clotheswise so 90% is crapola! We do get frequent appearances by Mexx at Loehmanns though.
FYI guys, my friend was at South coast plaza yesterday, he said that the whole Zara store was like on sale, so many items were $9.99!! Wish I could go!
