Hi everyone! I am new to the boards - and I need your help! I am heading to NYC for a wedding in early September and I need a few outfits to get me through my trip. I arrive Friday night and will be attending the rehearsal dinner at a restaurant in the city. Saturday will be alone time during the day (siteseeing, shopping etc.) and then Saturday evening (5PM) is the wedding. Would love your ideas for outfits for those three occassions. A little about me.. I am 33, just had a baby a month ago (so I am working to get back to pre-baby body)...so if possible keep the pieces budget friendly since I won't be this size for long.
Rehearsal dinner - I think this is a knit so you could possibly travel in it, maybe with leggings and a cardigan in case you get cold on a plane. It has a day-to-evening feel and with the sequins around the bodice it doesn't need much in the way of accessories ($60, Banana Republic):
In case you need shoes too, these flats are a little dressier than average ($25 at Macy's):
For the wedding, it's hard not to want to splurge a little! This also needs very little accessorizing other than a tan, conceals baby fat but is still just the right amount of sexy for a wedding ($80 at Nordstrom, but was $200):
Shoes, but you could go with any color ($40, Macy's):
For sightseeing you can try the flats above (if they're comfortable enough) with bermuda shorts and a ubiquitous a-line top, something along these lines ($13 at Old Navy and $22 at Dillards):
Welcome! Do you know what the dress codes for the wedding and rehearsal dinner are?
I live in NYC and would wear something like this out sightseeing. It could still be really hot and humid in early September but of course the air conditioning will make everything freezing cold inside.
These are from Old Navy:
I'd splurge on a comfortable but attractive flat sandal or wedge for sightseeing. I have the Clarks sandals in bronze and teal and love them. I also love Campers for walking.
