OK so I want to kill the SAs at Ron Herman for giving me a reason to stare them in the eye and give their store a profit somewhat unwillingly (because they're evil). Although I'm on a shopping ban, I bought these jeans because, quite frankly, I own 6 pairs of jeans and 1 or 2 could be considered crap only, and two are Abercrombie that are developing crotch holes and holes everywhere else too (*runs and hides*)...so I now own two pairs of wearable jeans (AG Angels and TR Joeys). I did need these desperately, as jeans are my staple.
I now have on the Paige jeans in the Laurel Canyon cut, like these...except this Intuition picture is quite honestly horrific and I would never buy them if I only saw this picture.
The wash I have a bit dirtier than the pic, very much similar to the vintage wash that Abercrombie and Hollister are fond of offering. I don't have much info on the washes because I basically grabbed the last pair Ron Herman had. These are 98% cotton and 2% Lycra, but not as stretchy as I would have though. They don't give as much as Rock and Republic or AG stretch jeans do, but they are stretchier than True Relgion's stretch. There is fading on my pair as well as a very strong crease line so that might turn people off, but I don't particuarly have an opinion on it.
I am curvy (38-27-38.5) and usually take a 28 in non stretch Seven or a 27 in most companie's stretch jeans. A 28 in these fit me perfectly, so I suspect the line runs a little small, or mabye it's just that my hips are huge . The fit is pretty nice. These jeans are low rise, not as low as TR, but still pretty low. I have an inch between my bellybutton and the waistband of these jeans. There are virtually ZERO gapping issues. The inseam is probably 33" so it's not for the super-tall girls or long-legged out there.
To me, these are a great pair of practical, basic jeans. And if you like relatively unadorned jeans, you should probably take a look into them. I'm trying to warm up to them, because I usually veer towards the funkier styles, but the fact of the matter is that basic jeans are more versatile and can be worn in more situations.
BTW, the reason I am kinda *eh* on these is the price. $165 and all I get is a good fit? I think I need to ask BF if these make me look good or else they're going back...
Thanks for the review! I have been wanting to check these out and I was excited when you said you were going to try them because I am built very similar to you. I hate trying things on, so I always like to hear about sizing and stuff before I look at something. I think the strong crease line is what draws me to these (although I'm not sure why) and I'm glad to hear that the fit is good and they aren't too stretchy.
OK my BF has given in his verdict. He has seen me in every single pair of jeans I've ever owned. He personally considers Seven and AG the best "basic" brands on me (likes COH too but feels that they're too similar to Sevens). He also LOVED my Rock and Republic Siouxsies and said that my legs look really really skinny in them (and he kept calling them the Ashlee Simpson jeans because Ashlee wears them in a lighter wash in the CD booklet of her album). He also liked my True Religion Joeys and contemplated getting a pair for himself until he realized that he's not entirely sure what his wardrobe needs will be once we both have jobs. In other words, I trust his opinion above nearly all others and he has been jeans shopping with me many times.
And he says these are .Especially after I told him I paid $165 for them.
He says the fit is not bad or anything. It hugs my curves well. But he thinks the pockets don't do that much for my butt. They aren't longer pockets like Seven and True Religion. And they're not placed as well at the AG pockets. They're also just too ordinary fitwise.
He compared them to a less flared version of the Express Cetine jeans I used to own, which were a very similar wash. He likes stretchier jeans and agreed with me that these don't stretch all that much. (the Cetines I owned were 97% cotton/3% Lycra)
So they are going back to Ron Herman the second I can get over there.
I thank BF for his honest review of these jeans on me. He also acknowledges that others might find the jeans very nice because of these things, but he personally thinks I'm better off without the Paiges. I have a feeling that he would tell me to get these R&R Scorpions instead since he has only good things to say about R&R fitwise. I just have to see hwo they stretch, because I remember them to be pretty stretchy.

yes lilykind, you are very lucky. My husband is very clueless when it comes to this stuff so he is no help at all. I could probably wear the same thing every day and he wouldn't even notice until I started to smell rank.
