I was hoping you ladies would have some suggestions . . .
I just got a job in a new company in Soho that has a very casual dress code, you can wear jeans & sneakers every day. I probably won't do that though since I'll be supervising some people. But still... I don't think my current wardrobe is slick enough for the neighborhood and the job (entertainment-related). Everything I own is work-casual and I'm so bored of it all!
I think this is a great time for me to do a little shopping. Don't you?
Yay! New-wardrobe shopping is the best! It sounds like you'll have a lot of leeway, so you can be as creative as you like! What are your favorite colors/brands/styles of clothes?

long time no see! welcome back. do you have a budget that you're trying to stick to? my first suggestion is ben sherman. they have a great selection of casual, yet funky clothes that would probably work well with your current wardrobe. (plus they've been having a sample sale at clothing line and the prices are dirt cheap.)
this dress would look great with boots
the top is ben sherman, the pants are alvin valley via shopbop. (i could go on and on about av, but essentially they are the most kick ass pants you'll ever own and worth every penny.) and the shoes are irregular choice
sweater is ben sherman, tank is c&c, pants are miss sixty from shopbop, the patterns in the sweater & pants are subtle enough that you can pair them together and look funky, but not crazy
the coat & sweater are from br, the boots are from zappos, and the skirt is petro zilla via coco & delilah
the sweater might be a little over the top, but i think it's a cool way to wear jeans and a sweater, without looking like your wearing "jeans & a sweater." this sweater is equally cool and a bit less dramatic you could wear it over a tank in another color or print like this one the first sweater is ya-ya, the jeans are capital tailors (imo everyone should own at least one pair of trouser style jeans) the boots are from fornarina via zappos. the second sweater is alice & olivia and the tank is c&c. the clothes are from shopbop.
Leah -- I would like to think that my style is "effortlessly polished" on a budget. I like all colors except for green and orange. I don't want to spend more than $150 on any one clothing item. So basically I want to get the best bang for my buck.
Honey -- Great ideas. I love that ben sherman dress. It's perfect! I must order it, I hope it looks cute on. I also dig the miss sixty plaid pants -- but I love plaid pants in general. Also thanks for the info on clothing line.
joina -- AV might possibly make the perfect pants. they are pricey (the ones posted are $242) but so worth it. they are low slung, but not too low, and the wide waist band is a nice touch that makes the pants interesting enough to spice up an outfit, but not so daring that you can't wear them in and out. the waist band contours a tiny bit, which normally i wouldn't go for (i don't really have a waist) but for some reason it works. and they're cut so well. they really flatter the butt. i was literally doing cartwheels when i saw them on shopbop, since they're hard to find online. (obviously other people were too b/c the navy, black and light blue are sold out in my size.) and they'd work really well for tall girls. the inseam is 37" and they come unfinished, so that you can alter them to fit you. i have a pair and i LOVE them. i'm actually really sad b/c they're too big, but they are hands down one of my favorite purchases.
rcm -- bs runs pretty tts. i've heard some people say it runs a little small, but they were mainly referring to the men's stuff. i have a jacket by them, and the sweater i posted, and i've found them tts. but if you're a bit more well endowed and ordering a button down, it'd probably be safer to size up. hth!
carmenb513 -- the shoes are irregular choice and from zappos.
joina -- mine are too big b/c i've lost weight, enough that making them fit again would require way too much work. so i'm going to try and sell them on ebay, but i'm so lazy i'll probably end up giving them away.
Honey - it sounds like you and I might have the same body type. I don't have much of a waist either, so I'm intrigued by the AV pants. Are they slim through the hips/thighs?
Sorry to go on and on about these pants everyone, but it's so hard to find good pants!
What size are the ones you're thinking of selling on ebay?

lisa -- they're not really slim through the hips/thigh, but they're not fitted either, they're kind of in between. sorry i'm kind of inarticulate but they look good. the pair i have are a size 10.
