I just wanted to rave about my local TJ Maxx - They have suddenly started carrying all sorts of wonderful designer clothing. I just bought myself two fabulous pairs of True Religion jeans, but they're also carrying Single, Yoanna Baraschi, Emilio Pucci, Ralph Lauren, Missoni, Paige Premium Denim, Elie Tahari, Joe's Jeans, Sevens, and many, many more. Is this going on in all stores, or just certain ones?
My local T.J.Maxx has improved recently too, I've seen some of the denim brands you mentioned plus L.A. Made, Michael Stars, and Joie. Still, the selection isn't all that great though. It's very hit and miss for me.
They tend to do this in high-income areas. The one I go to is nicknamed "TJ Saks" and there is a section of the store dedicated to designer clothing. The markdowns are included with the regular sales racks though...

I don't consider the T.J.Maxx that I go to to be in an upscale location, but it gets some really nice brands. It always has Seven jeans, Lilly Pulitzer dresses, C&C tops, a lot of Juicy, and Theory. The prices are pretty good too, for example, a $300 Lilly Pulitzer dress will be there for like $75

D is absolutely right! when i'm working and in different towns, i try to go to the TJ Saks (love that name D!) when I am in high income areas b/c i know they will carry brands that are better. the TJ Maxx in my area is not as great b/c I live in a smaller town where people don't know or care about designer brands.
UPDATE: I went into mine this week and they had just gotten a whole shipment of Badgley Mischka wedding dresses in. Very odd...but they were marked retail at $995 and being sold for $200. Wish I needed one :)
My TJ Maxx's still are terrible but I have seen places like Value City, Gabriel Brothers and Off Fifth get better brands. I have a feeling we will start seeing discount stores continue to get good stuff because less and less people can afford to shop at Saks, Neimans, etc.
I found this DVF Suron wrap dress at a TJM this past weekend - only in a size zero, though. It was $50 or $60, and it's still online everywhere for at least $200.
