calling all jeans experts!

i want to get a new pair of jeans, but i get so confused by all the different brands. i would like to head into barneys or saks armed with some denim knowledge.

can you help me figure out what brands/styles fit these criteria:

-dark wash
-no whiskering or any major distressing
-plain back pockets (there can be some sort of minor stitching, but i don't want a big A on my ass or anything). flap style pockets are also acceptable.
-not super low rise
-fairly straight/skinny leg, slight bootcut ok

now about me:
-24" waist, 30" hips
-short legs (maybe 30" inseam)
-fairly big butt in proportion to my body

How about those salt works ones halleybird got? Or the true religion ones that were similar? I think they came in dark rinse and had plain butt pockets.

james jeans fit those criteria (e doli posted 2 pairs) and the barney's co-op (in the main store) had a bunch on sale b/f christmas for $90. granted that was awhile ago, but it's worth a look. don't know how you feel about braving bloomies on a sat. but they have a really good selection of jeans, and they're pretty lax in the fitting room (i.e. a salesperson won't bother you every 5 minutes and you can take a bunch of stuff in) and not be disturbed.

also maybe try notify

With a 30" inseam, you will probably need to hem whatever you get. Even if you didn't want a straight leg, you will probably get one b/c the hem will get rid of a lot of the flare.

Salt Works Orchard Street in Polished: These are not as low as the descriptions say. They're more like 8". They may be more flared than you want though...

Blue Cult Kate (again, I don't think they're as low as they say):

yay! thanks guys! i'm going to write down all these recommendations.
my friend (dot) has volunteered to go with me to saks or barneys. i just get so overwhelmed every time i attempt to buy jeans.

it's so annoying - my gap jeans are total highwaters on me, but i guess designer jeans have longer inseams. i can usually get away with not getting pants hemmed if i wear them with heels though. but my legs are super short.
