I have a few items with oil stains on them. The kind that you don't know is there till after you wash it. It looks like a wet stain when it's dry. I'm so upset about them. Anyone know how to get them out? A magic cleaning potion or secret?
I spot treat the stain with a dish soap- dawn or something that. If something splatters and I have little grease stains all over I put about a 1/2 cup of dishwashing soap in the washer. I let the clothes soak in the washer for about a half hour and then start the washing process. It usually works really well.

I like dawn too, but I've had the best luck with murphy's oil soap (it's a household cleaner, they sell it with Mr. Clean and lysol and all that at most stores). Good luck - those mystery stains are so frustrating!
i got an oily stain off a cotton shirt with oxiclean. just soaked it in a solution of oxiclean and hot water for a couple hours and then washed. it was seriously like magic. i had washed it and treated it several times before and nothing helped. just try not to put it in the dryer until you're sure the stain is gone since the heat can set the stain in.

Dizzy- Do you just use it as a spot cleaner or put it in the wash? I have never used it before and would like to try it. Thanks!

I use the Oxi-Clean too. I like to pre treat it, then soak it then let it go through the washer. I never dry anything if it might have a stain or else it will set. I have had to sometimes do the treatment 2x for serious stains.
