I didn't get to print out the post on FH before they got deleted so if you don't mind which little gadget do yall use and can you give me a quick crash course on how to properly use one.
A sweater razor! They're great. My bf got one for me for like $7 at a supermarket. Not sure what kind it is. But the one I have is batterie operated. Looks like a hand held fan with a net arount the fan and it shaves the pilling's off.
It takes forever, but if it's a thick knit, the only thing that works is scissors. And patience. Lots of patience. I like a sweater shaver for thin knits, but I have had a problem with them leaving my sweaters looking a little worn - they thin out the fabric every time you use them.
am I not doing it right. I have the hand held battery operated one and i swear it isn't doing anything. Should you see some shavings in the clear part?
I think mine was 6 or 7 bucks at Linens and things or someplace like that.

I used to have one too. It'll take the large pills off, but not the smaller, fuzzy ones. It should make a satisfying sucking-crunch noise when it is actually picking the pills up.

If it doesn't then my best guess is that the razor part isn't sharp enough or that the sheald part is too far from the razor not alowing it to properly rub against the fabric.
I am partial to the $5 or less sweater comb (google it). it is acomb you use on sweaters that gets the pills out and then you do not have to worry about the electric shaver grabbing a loose thread
I have a Conair sweater razor I got at Costco last year for about $10. I love it but only use it on the big pills, the smaller ones I clip with a nail clipper. It's tedious but works and doesn't wear ou the sweater.
Yup Mikacat, the clear plastic thing should fill up with pillings.
Bumping this to see if anyone has any new recs for piling removers along with where to buy them. I've heard of them, but I've never noticed them at the store.
Does this stone work on very small pills? My favorite peach sweater is pilling a little.
Yeah, it does a pretty good job
How those this sweater stone works? Do you rub the stone against the sweater pills? wouldn't that make more fuzzines on the sweater? Please advise. I have the razor but I have notice that each time I use it on a sweater, after I use the sweater I even get more pills. so I am looking for something new.

No the stone is kind of rough, so as you rub the stone against the sweater the pills stick to the stone and you just pull them off the stone and throw them out. I found out about it in a People Style magazine a couple months ago.
