Need help finding jeans

first, nothing comes in a short length. i'm probably about your height (i'm 5'3) and have resigned myself to have every pair i buy hemmed. but judging from the posts here and what salespeople have told me, almost everyone needs theirs altered.

i'm a big fan of sevens. i have a pair of their mediterranean, which i like b/c they have a little more stretch than others so they're extra comfy:

I think I'm similar in size to you, and i have a 28 in these.

I also have a pair of seven rockers, which are my current favorite. what i like about these is that the legs are thinnner in the knee and calf area. i think b/c i'm shorter other styles i have tried on like the NY wash and a pocket seem to have really loose, wide legs around the knee for me. i'm a 29 in the rockers:

people have been raving about salt works too. i tried a pair yesterday and loved the color but the rise seemed a little high for me (8"):

I'm a 4-6 at BR, AE, etc. with a smaller waist and larger hips/butt/thighs. I'm also 5' 2" so I feel your pain about the short inseams thing.

Diesels DO come in a shorter inseam, which does avoid the pain of hemming. I've liked the Daze style, which was a low rise flare, but I don't know if they sell it anymore. It's defintely worth a look because of the availability of the 30" inseam.

I'm a big fan of Sevens. I've liked the regular bootcuts and flares (stretch is better, but nosntretch is still cool) as well as the Dojo style. I think this is the best starting point for designer jeans, since they seem to be flattering to so many figure types. The A-pockets are super-cute, but the slimmer cut of the thighs means I can't get my legs into them. Sevens' sizing is all over the place. I've tried Sevens in every size from 26 to 30 than have fit (I'm a 28 in nonstretch bootcuts). But if you start with the nostretch bootcut, you should get a 29 or 30.

My AG jeans are very accomodating to fuller hips and thighs. I like the Angel style, which has a lower rise and a bootcut. Many curvy girls also like the Legend, which has a bit higher rise, a slightly larger flare and a heart shaped yoke in the back. If you get these, getting some with stretch will make them more comfy. I would recommend getting a size 29 in these.

I love True Religion, and I'd recommned the Joeys (with the flap pocket and twisted flare). They are very low rise and if you're looking for that, TR is the best. I have a short waist and most low rise jeans are not so. TR jeans actually are low rise on me but not insanely so. Plus I love the flap pockets and the twisted seam makes your legs look super-skinny. I'd recommend getting either a size 28 if you want them tight or a 29 if you want them a little looser.

I like Salt Works too. The Orchard Street style with the flap pockets will do more for your hips and rear than the basic ones. They do a great job lifting the butt and making everything look all around better. I'd recommend getting a 28 or 29.

i'm not really curvy (in the sense that i don't have a well defined waist) but i do have thighs and a butt. i've pretty much tried on every brand of designer jeans (except salt works)and my favorite hands down in diesel. of all the jeans i've tried, they are the only ones that make my thighs look smaller. the daze style is my absolute favorite, but they don't make them anymore. bluefly has a pretty good selection of them for pretty cheap, but they don't have them in a dark blue wash, if that is what you're looking for. they have a dirty washwhich is kind of faded and destroyed looking but doesn't come with holes or anything. and a greenish tinge wash with stretch. i have both these pairs. the first wash is a bit easier to work with than the second. but imo, if you're looking to invest, you might bypass these, since they're not really investment jeans. you can also try the rame style, which i like too. these jeans are from house of style (you can specify the inseam) and were the only ones that i could find in a darker blue wash. i would also recommend james jeans. these are from shopbop and i find them very flattering, but you'll have to hem them. on me, sevens and coh are only okay, but other people love them. the tricky thing with jeans, is you really kind of have to try them on. since a brand that works for some people doesn't work for others.

If you have any hips at all, I wouldn't do Earls. They look great on my 5'3"-85 lb. sister, but they make me look hippy (and my hips are 32-33").

You will have to get them hemmed, so I'd go with a flare style so you don't end up with a straight leg. My recs:
