Lucy (the beagle) is getting spayed today and I'm worried about her. I know it's a routine operation, but she's my little fur baby!!! Our vet keeps them overnight after spaying, so she's going to be away tonight. And I'm sure she's scared and upset, especially since she gets separation anxiety.
Just think of it this way - yes she may be a little upset, but it means that if there is even the tiniest hint of any sort of complication, they'll be able to see it and take care of it right away. No back-and-forth for you trying to decide if something's wrong, which is nervewracking in it's own right. Is Lucy allowed to have a blanket or toy from home tonight?
They're stronger than you'd think - I'm sure everything will be just fine, and she'll just be extra happy to see you tomorrow!

Oh man, I can totally relate! Little Jeter is several months away from being neutered, but I am already freaking out about it. I am going to be a wreck when we take him in.
Let us know how she is when you bring her home - and give her extra kisses and hugs from us!
I can totally relate. I had Boo neutered the week after 9/11 and the country was so tense and scary, I didn't want to be separated from him even for a night in case there was some sort of disaster. It seems ridiculous now, but at the time my fears felt valid. He was also having detached dewclaws removed as well as some teeth pulled, so I was all sorts of nervous.
Anyway, it went fine and he seemed unfazed, although he hated wearing his elizabethan collar and I survived my separation anxiety (I really don't like spending time away from him).
Lucy is fine. I called to check on her last night and the vet said she was alert and doing well. We can pick her up tonight. I can't wait to get her back!
