I am with you.. sigh. I'll be looking through mags, lust after some thing I think is faux, and then recoil when I realize it's not. Then I feel dirty for having wanted it. Not to get the fur debate started (oy, have we been there!) but just isn't my bag, so to speak.

i really thought it was faux fur because it's only $125. i would actually really really love it if the whole thing were leather. damn them! i guess i probably shouldn't buy leather goods either. poor cows.
so pretty...but alas,I too am a no fur gal. I often wonder though, how fashionistas truly feel about fur though.you ladies are like me,and thats good, but does anyone truly wear it anymore? I would be too afraid of getting pelted with paint if I did wear it!!

Well... I am just about the biggest animal lover in the world... however, the fox is already killed and there is not a thing you can do about it now, so I say if you like the bag get it! Don't let the animal go to waste! Look at it like you are putting its horrible death to good, because if that cute handbag just sat in a warehouse somewhere it would be really sad for that poor fox :(
I hope this post does not offend anyone in any way :) that is not my intension

But the problem is you are creating a demand for the fur. If the purse sells well, for example, they will be more likely to use real fur in the future. Furthermore, some boutiques/shops will order another purse for each one sold...meaning another animal dies. (don't worry, I'm not offended. just wanted to put i my two cents.)
I wear fur, but it's all vintage from the 40's and 50's. I have a 40's mink jacket - all purchased from antique stores - and I've never experienced any paint throwing... The fur collar I wore to that event last week was from the 50's... I kind of feel that these furs were harvested a good 50-60 years ago and my purchase does not support the current fur industry... Do you think I am right or wrong for wearing vintage fur?

i hate the theory of fur.. but find myself stroking it in stores all the time! i find myself having different levels of guilt for different animals. i know that this is insane that i really should follow one guideline since basically all animal suffereing for fashion's sake is cruel... but i am the first to admit that i am being biased and illogical. i don't feel bad about leather... i feel sad for bunnys but love touching rabbit fur.... anything that slightly resembles an animals natural coat (like a fox tail or those stole's with the animal's head on it!!!! eww) freak me out... and in this case, fox, i feel bad about fox. they are so smart and graceful.
i used to be really anti-fur, now not so much, though not enough to buy one. i think part of it is the fact that the fashion industry has been really pushing fur hardcore, and some of it is just really beautiful (i'm thinking specifically about j.mendel, some of the things he's done are just so gorgeous). maybe it's a conspiracy.
I was eyeing that bag too when it was 20% off last week. Too bad it's real fur, it's so cute. Luca also had an all-leather gold bag but it was unavailable that day (might be people were cart-hogging or it was sold out). Not nearly as cute, but an alternative if you're looking for a fab gold bag like I am.

ok this is gonna sound really weird but remind me why i should care? not trying to be flip, but in my heart of hearts i really don't have a problem w/ fur. it's not an issue for me since i live in LA (no need for a fur coat here) but i have wondered why, since i consider myself an empathetic person, fur doesn't affect me...enlighten me, please?
That is a beautiful bag. I would like it more if it was fake. I wear a rabbit coat and I also have a vintage long fur coat, and I own a pair of Uggs. I feel guilty when fur is used as an accessory. When it's used as a coat, I don't feel as bad. Probably because I justify it as protection from the elements. And I know that other materials are warm, but there is nothing as warm as real down or real fur.
At the same time, I hate the thought of how these animals were killed. I don't like the fact that they are bred to be killed and worn.
So, I don't plan on having a collection of furs. I limit my leather bags and shoes as well. Faux leather looks just as good and it's cheaper. Only my investment bags are real leather.

I don't know about "enlighten me" - everyone has a different take on this issue, clearly. I think if you don't feel something already you probably won't be convinced. Most people know the arguments on either side of this issue and have made their decision.
I don't even own any fur, I just realize I would not have a problem with owning rabbit, chinchilla, mink etc. I make my moral decision based on my subjective idea of how 'advanced' the critter is. It's arbitrary but so is most people's view.
If someone came up with a line of real fur that was harvested from animals who had been killed humanely (read: killed swiftly and cleanly) I would have very little problem with that, although again I would NEVER wear anything from the dog family. Ever. Ever.

I agree fox makes me upset also. I hunt quite frequently, and I have no problem hunting deer because you eat it, but a fox is just an animal to mount or make into an accessory.
