Ok so i was in victorias secret yesterday and there are so many cute garter belt and sexy lingerie things and ive never bought anything like that and i think i want to (to surprise my bf lol) but here is the thing...i never wear thigh highs. The girl in victorias secret was saying thigh highs are so hot etc. But i just dont see myself wearing them...but im willing to i guess. I'm going to a wedding in 3 weeks so i thought i could wear them then but i dont see thigh highs matching any springy type dresses. And you basically HAVE to wear thigh highs with those garter belt "outfits" because otherwise they just hang there (right??). anyone have an thoughts on this? or possible dresses that i could wear to the wedding that will look good with thigh highs? i'm 23 and its a young couple getting married if that matters
Hmmm, I wear them, but in the winter. I can't imagine wanting to wear any type of hose (sexy or not) in the spring or summer. Especially since you would most likely want to wear open toe shoes. I would wait and do it when the weather is cooler. Perhaps you could put a nice bow on yourself and give him a little holiday surprise.

Take my advice and do not try to wear them to a wedding. Guys may think they are sexy but they are so damn uncomfortable to have to wear all night. Save it for the bedroom like Farrah and Esquiress say and just surprise him at home!

Well, there are two kinds of hosiery that people call "thigh-highs." Stay-ups have elastic on the inside, against your skin, so they stay up without a garter belt. For example:
While I do wear these very often without problems (even the ones from Target work really well), I'm not sure I'd wear those to a wedding for my first experiment because you'll probably be dancing, KWIM?
Then there are stockings, which require a garter belt to stay up. I'll be honest, the garter belts at Victoria's Secret aren't going to be something you want to wear out. They're small and flimsy. They'll fall down or stretch out or let go of your garters or twist your stockings around....no fun! Really, most garter belts now are made just for the bedroom so they can't stand up to any kind of real activity. For wearing stockings out, I cannot say enough good things about Secrets In Lace garter belts. I actually find them far more comfortable than regular pantyhose. Honestly, when I first saw them I thought there was no way I'd wear it. They're bigger than the whispy, delicate things you'll find at VS. They have 6 straps. But when I got it and put it on, it doesn't look nearly as big and scary as it does in the picture. It just looks glamorously retro and I think I may even prefer it over the smaller for-home garter belts I have. And if you want to wear them to a wedding or something, something substantial is what you need. I have two of these:
Ok sounds like ill just do the bathroom change when we get back to the hotel hahaha. thats a good point about the open toed shoes...i just dont see the whole thigh high thing fitting into my outfit planning and it probably would get uncomfortable. i was willing to tough it out for the night but i just dont see it working out the way i would have wanted...
I've never heard of planning an outfit around thigh highs!
Thigh highs are not "so hot right now" despite what the VS chick says. They are sexy for lingerie, guys go nuts over them, thats about it. I mean, if you are wearing them as an alternative to pantyhose than its moreso about what your personal preference is.
Also, to answer your question, I think you can totally wear those lingerie outfits with attached garters without the thigh highs, its still a cute look (for the bedroom we're talking).
