I really like the cut on this Anthropologie jacket, I'm in love with the lapels and collar. When I was ready to press submit I saw that it is made of linen Some linen items are high maitenance and can look sloppy so I'm debating. I would like to use this to dress up outfits if I have to run to an event.
Here is another option from Jcrew, which is $70 more. I already have 2 vintage patterned jackets with the same type of sleeve, but I need a basic color and since I love sleeves like this it wouldn't be a problem Any opinions or thoughts?
j crew. I like the style of the anthro one better, but sit down against a chair with a back once, and your linen jacket will be all wrinkled and you'll look disheveled.

I like how the sleeves on the Anthro one are just a tiny bit longer. I agree with Erin about checking it out and seeing if it would wrinkle badly, if it doesn't I vote for the first one.

The Athro one is really cute IRL, I saw it in the Anthro in Boston about a month ago and I swear they had one that wasn't linen. It was at the front of the rack and I pounced on it, flipped back to find my size and realized that the rest of the rack was linen but in the exact same style. It's a heavy linen that does have a rumpled feel to it. I'm not sure that it would look super wrinkled because of the heft of the weave but in my mind that does make it feel more casual. I would wear it with jeans but I'm not sure what else I'd put with it as you're right, linen can look sloppy and be hard to match because of that. I also found it pretty short and I'm only 5'6" so depending on your body type (if you're tall and/or curvy) that might be an issue. It was really cute and if I'd have thought that I'd get the wear out of it I'd definitely have considered it. I LOVE the J Crew jacket but the straight cut might also be limiting, I think I could wear it for work and on weekends so it's on my maybe/if it goes on sale list.
Good luck!

Thanks so much for all the help ladies. I have to do most of my shopping online, and lately haven't had any luck. I'm glad I have you all to ask for advice!
Thanks for the indepth review Twinkle. I agree with you, I feel like this jacket has been stuck in my mind for a while, it probably was in another fabric.
I think I might order, since I have free shipping, and test it out for myself.
I've tried on a similar jacket at Anthro before and the ruffle around the bottom of the jacket just exaggerated my hips in a really awful way. Since the JCrew one doesn't have that ruffle around the bottom, I think it'd be more flattering.
Carrie Bradshaw: The fact is, sometimes it's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.
can i change my vote to j. crew? i tried it on IRL and thought it was really nice..so long as you're not over a B cup it will look really cute. also, the sleeves were longer on me than they were on the model.
I just got in the mail after it went through UPS, then DSL, then the post office.
It gets a thumbs down. The ruffle along the button closure doesn't lay flat, so it stands out straight from your body like a mohawk. It has all the characteristics of linen, floppy, wrinkly and doesn't hold its shape:(
