The contents of my purse are a mess and it's been nagging at me for a while now. I figure if I buy a few new things, like a nice new checkbook holder and business card holder, I can feel a little neater and organized. The checkbook cover I have is this yucky old plastic one I've had for years and it's time to trash it.
I'd prefer one that's not flimsy and that's easy to clean, so preferable not leather, unless it's just lined on the inside with leather.
I don't even carry my checkbook with me. THat being said, I have a dark green leather cover that I have had since undergrad (about 13 years). Do yuo really still carry a checkbook? (As you can tell, I am totally fascinated by this, HA!)

I don't carry a checkbook either. I usually just put one or two checks folded in my wallet incase I need them for something. But i don't write checks on a regular basis.

I ALWAYS carry mine with me just in case. Plus I'm constantly using my debit card and need to subtract my purchases. That said, I really need a new one because I'm using the flimsly plastic one that came with the checks and it's falling apart.

LOL I must be a dinosaur b/c I was inspired to clean up my purse as I was browsing on the Purse Forum. They had this thread where everyone was showing the inside of their purses and I was shocked at how neat and organized everyone was! BUT funny thing is, NO ONE had checkbook! I carry mine to pay for my daughter's daycare weekly, for doctor/dentist copays (although they've probably started accepting debit/credit cards, I'm just used to paying by check) and in case I have no cash and I need to park in a parking structure - a lot of them still don't accept cards!

Pinkkitty-Would you give the link for that thread? I'm very intrigued.
I use a real plain/simple black leather one that I bought at a local leather goods boutique. I don't see a label on it though.
I keep mine in my wallet. I rarely use it as well but I have it with me just in case. I do have to write out a rent check every month, unfortunately. That's pretty much the only time it comes out. I keep it in my wallet. It's got a compartment for a check book and it fits very nicely. I have this Lodis wallet:
You may find this crazy but: Not only do I not carry my checkbook, I don't even have one anymore! When my checkbook ran out two years ago, I decided to see how long I could get by without paying the fee for a new one by doing all my banking online and using Bank of America's free online service where they will mail checks out for you to whomever you want. Guess what -- I still haven't ever needed a check!! Now I love to put everything on my credit card so that I get reward points and can keep track of all of my purchases in one place.
My wallet came with a matching checkbook cover that fits inside. It has the clear ID pocket on the checkbook cover, which is where I want it. I love my wallet and all it's features...it is so old the name has rubbed off of the little metal square, so I can't even remember who makes it. I think it's Ken Cole. Could be Guess.
I keep a full-sized brown leather wallet out of my purse. The wallet has a built-in space and cover for the checkbook. I write 1 check a month, and I write it while I'm at home.
That being said, if I were to seek out a nice cover for just the checkbook, I would look at these 3 makers as possibilities:
