I'm 5' and I really want this dress, however, for it to hit at the knee where it hits the model, it would have to be apprx. 5" shorter.
I've never had to shorten anything that has details on the bottom hem, can this dress be altered without cutting off the bottom? Would they just remove the skirt from the top and cut it from the top of the skirt and sew it back together? It seems like a lot of work and like it would cost a lot of $$$. Can anyone let me know how this works?
Because of the detail at the waist (ruching/puckering/etc) it would probably be expensive. I took something in that I wanted shortened in that manner and it wasn't worth it. You might call around though to find out approx prices.

They'd have to take off fabric from the top and redo the gathering at the waist when attaching the skirt back. It's a pretty intensive job so I'm sure it's one of the more costly ones. I'm guessing in the neighborhood of $40+? I've never had it done but my mom used to a seamstress.
