so I have this skirt (it hits the floor with heels on for me)
I was planning on wearing this blouse (in ivory) with it:
with the black and white theme, and with a table full of Chinese diplomats, I was going to wear my big pearl necklace with an antique Chinese carved mother of pearl poker chip and gold enhancer among other Chinese jewelry I have. The blouse also allows me to wear my huge opal and gold cufflinks.... I was thinking of wearing these christian lacroix evening sandals that have big rhinestone balls on them.
NOW...
I just got that Roberto Cavalli blouse, and it has gorgeous fabric (almost like a sheer silk brocade) with a big dragon on the back... it was originally a $1500 blouse - I'm entertaining wearing it with the black skirt.... I also have a huge jade ring I could wear that would look great with the blouse.
thoughts? and maybe with my fendi belt? too stuffy? I thought it would be a nice nod to my table mates with the Chinese theme on the blouse (at least I think dragons and chrysanthemums are Chinese...)
yes, I know I put way too much thought into what I wear.
I am also thinking of using this valentino bag (olive/black silk with a bamboo pattern):

so, i agree that the cavalli blouse is absolutely beautiful, but i am going to somewhat disagree with everyone--i am worried about the "too stuffy" that you mentioned with the combo of the high neck on it and the long skirt. is there a way to tie the bow a bit looser? otherwise, i think the white blouse would maybe be better--the proportion of the neckline looks right for the skirt. plus, i love the idea of the gold cufflinks and the poker chip necklace--that sounds amazing.
obviously you'll know when you try on which is right for the occasion--i would love to see a threadstyle, too! and close-ups of the gems, please.
