I'm hoping that some of you can help me. I recently got engaged and we are trying to remotely scout locations for our wedding in Napa/Sonoma. He is from there but being a guy is less than helpful. Most of his friends that live there didn't get married there. If anyone had their wedding there or went to a wedding there I would appreciate any and all suggestions. TIA!
I haven't had a wedding or attended a wedding there, but remember reading that Christina Aguilera had her wedding at Auberge du Soleil. From what I've heard that is the top hotel in the area, but it's also extremely expensive.
What kind of wedding are you thinking of having? As in, small, big, casual, formal, etc.?
We're looking for something a little more low-key. It will be around 150 people so it isn't small or huge. I'm hoping to find somewhere that isn't crazy expensive. A lot that I've found have $30,000 or $15,000 food and beverage minimums on top of a site fee. That doesn't even cover basics like photography or a florist, etc...
I realize that inexpensive and Napa/Sonoma don't go hand in hand, but his grandmother is up there and will be 99 at the time of the wedding and it is very important to him that she be able to attend. On the other hand, if I'm dragging people up there I want it to be something special that ties in with the area...
I wonder if any of the wineries do weddings? I went on some wine tours in the area where the diningroom/hall area was absolutley beautiful.
IIRC Beringer Estate was very nice.
Yeah, I've looked at some, but apparently there is some law that only ceratin wineries can do weddings and those that can you have to be done by like 10pm. I would hate to tell my guests 'see ya' and have them come up with something else to do the rest of the night.
Congratulations on your engagement! Have you checked out herecomestheguide.com? It has info about sites in Napa/Sonoma - including size, deposit, etc.
If you are looking for something more artsy, and pretty reasonable compared to many other venues, I've heard lots of great things about Cornerstone Gardens.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely look into Cornerstone Gardens.
I attended a very beautiful wedding at Viansa winery. If I recall correctly, we did have to leave quite early, but most of the guests were staying in the Sonoma square so anyone who wanted to could get together afterward, though I am pretty sure everyone just went to back to their hotels since we all left the next morning. One other thing I didn't like was that only the winery's own wine (of course) and beer was served for alcohol--no liquor was allowed. Overall, I really liked it there and I think the bride and groom were very pleased as well.
