DH and I are going to visit his parents after New Years. His parents always insist that we not get them anything for the holidays. But, today (!!), DH decided that we should, after years of him not getting them everything. He has no ideas except that whatever we get them can't be "stuff." He already vetoed a couples day at a spa because the only one near them got bad reviews.
I have only one idea: get them a gift card to a nice restaurant. But, I don't know if the restaurant has gift cards, and they don't open for another few hours.
Unfortunately, it looks like it will be up to me to think of something if the restaurant doesn't have gift cards, which looks likely because their website has no mention of gift cards.
We leave for New Years on Sunday, so tomorrow is the only day I have to shop. So, I have one day to buy two gifts that are not "stuff" for my in laws and DH's grandmother.
My in-laws have pretty much everything. MIL is a gourmet cook and gardener and FIL is big into wine and woodworking. Grandma is in her late 80s, in good health, and big into gardening.
What about an Amex or Mastercard gift card if the restaurant doesn't sell them. Or, if they are foodies, a really nice bottle of wine would be a cool gift.

This year we didn't want to give our parents "stuff" so we gave them tickets to a play and a gift certificate to a restaurant nearby. They loved it! I bet the restaurant does have gift cards, I don't know if I've ever heard of a place not having them. But if they don't, maybe tickets to a play or something like that?

Thanks! These are both great ideas! Farrah, I feel silly, I had no idea that Amex had gift cards. If the restaurant doesn't have one, I'll probably do an Amex gift card and maybe print out the menu for the restaurant or something so they'll know I intended to buy them dinner there.
