Hey guys,
I searched and found a thread called men's fashions, which was interesting and informative but I'm looking more for casual stuff.  Sort of college campus meets beachhouse or something.  Like a couple of years ago all the guys were wearing these jeans that were hacked off at the shins.  And then board shorts were in.  Really streetsy surfer styles.  For a while I saw that those Adidas sport jackets were really trendy (sorry to be label whorical)... this is like, three years ago or so.  What's the story right now?  I know this one guy in California and he has no clue what is in now.  Also I need to buy a birthday present for my brother- he's like six foot two and tends to just wear whatever.  For these situations, what would you guys suggest?  My brother is more on the conservative side but I have another brother who is not so much, so I'd like to hear just about anything in this department.

I don't think you could go wrong with something from urban -- you should be able to find conservative and not so conservative styles.

a hoodie (or hoody) with a cool graphic might be good...

Thanks for welcoming me! :) .. I notice the hoodie is tighter.. is that the style right now? As opposed to more baggy .. :) Also I noticed a lot of the stuff at urban is gray.. would you guys say that's a trend?

grey is a really big trend right now. i also think you'd be fine with a larger sized sweatshirt if he likes them baggy.

Yes, I think the trend is moving away from the radically oversized looks. Hip-hop has become more gentrified!

Triple 5 Soul is great for casual edgy menswear; I like Ben Sherman for the preppier dude.

Check karmaloop.com and planetfunk.com too.

I have some brands I love -

For preppy guy - Ben Sherman, mavi jeans or lucky jeans

For Casual Guy - RVCA tees, mavi jeans , seven jeans

Dressy/going out - 7 diamonds shirts


Honestly I would head to nordstrom, they have the best selection (especially nordstrom rack!) and really helpful sales people.
