I do this ALL the time. I like to look at my new items hanging in the closet and think about wearing them. I want to wear them at the perfect time, so I "save" them. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
All the time! Granted, most of my shopping for myself is at the thrift store, but even there...I find 90% of what I buy is not for the everyday, it's for these fantasy days in my head where I need something fancy and special and fabulous. So as a result I have a closet full of special stuff, and NOTHING to wear! :)
OMG yes I was just lamenting this the other day. I have a pair of Jimmy Choo boots I got 2 years ago and I've never worn them because I'm afriad of them getting wet or scuffed. It's obscene!
Yup I do this with my shoes more than clothes! I love my black Chanel pumps but I'm so scared I'm going to scuff them or wear out the heels so I won't wear them if it's raining...I hate to walk outside in them. I bought them because I thought I'd get my moneys worth but heck I'm too scared to wear them!
I totally do this. I wear the crappiest clothes to work because, you know, it's just work. (Crappy is an exaggeration because I work in a professional environment, of course.) But I hardly ever wear nice clothes to work because I know they won't appreciate them. Plus if I wear anything fashion forward, I get comments and looks, so it's really not worth it. Luckily I wear lots of dresses when I go out. I'm always the one who's overdressed in an outing but I. just. don't. care. I like nice clothes. It's not my fault I live in a city where flip flops and tank tops are acceptable for all occasions.
I always think the same thing, whats the point of wearing somethng nicee to work? No one appreciates it anyway and if I do wear something fashion forward everyone thinks I am weird!! I would rather just go out more so I can wear all of my best clothes!
I'm more likely to base this on laundry/cleaning. Like if I JUST did whites yesterday, I won't wear a white shirt because it will sit around in the dirty clothes for two weeks. Or if I have stuff to drop at the cleaners, I'll wear something dry clean only since I have to go soon anyway.
I feel like the odd woman out, lol. I don't own any "fancy" clothes. Basically everything I own I can wear to work or on the weekend, and if I have a nicer occasion I have to either make what I have work, or buy something new.
