I really don't shop much anymore, but I've wanted both of these dress (or ones like it) for the longest time.
1. Vena Cava
2. DVF
I live a ridiculously casual lifestyle though, and am not sure if I should just funnel the money into a nice Nicholas K-type sweater instead though. I've been in a state of fashion apathy so I've been wearing basics most of the time.
Also, I do have a ton of upcoming expenses (property tax, Christmas, BF's birthday, etc. etc. etc.)
The first one kind of reminds me of the dresses one would find at a hippie clothing/incense/patchouli/glass pipe/hemp shops that were all over the place in my college days. Maybe it looks cute on, though. I've never seen it in person. The second one is cute but it's not the cutest DVF I've seen and I don't really like the pockets on the boobs thing.
I vote for a really amazing sweater. Cost per wear would be mere pennies...
what's the material on the first dress? guessing from the pictures, the dvf seems more dress-down-able, but the vena cava is so pretty. i think you'd get more mileage out of a nicholas k-type sweater, though, but that might be my bias speaking :) i've gotten tons of use out of my sweaters.
i definitely have things i've been pining for, but don't suit my current lifestyle. poo. it sounds like you've been lusting after these dresses... if the vena cava is less than $50, i'd get it.
I say save your money. You have several other expenses coming up and with the holidays just around the corner maybe you will get the great sweater. I'm not feeling either one of these dresses for your lifestyle. You have a great collection of dresses that you don't get to wear as often as you would like so I wouldn't add to it right now. Wait for something fabulous! =)

neither are blowing me away. i love the cut-out-tulip print, but i prefer it in other styles. also, maybe your property taxes are lower, but ours always make me want to cry. (but we have a separate escrow acct for our taxes)
I think that if you have any nice parties coming up then that could be a good excuse to buy the first dress. But if not I say niether and I would save some money for the upcoming expenses you know you will have.

ITA - the first dress is nice but I know that for my body it would be extremely unflattering. I tried the DVF on and it was cute but not OUTSTANDING. I think the print is too small, it was also very short on me (too short for work at least).
Save your $$ for those upcoming bills and I think you'll be a lot more content.
not very keen on the colours of the DVF but i love the vena cava one! but i guess if you have nowhere to wear it, perhaps you should get a nice sweater instead. i prefer to have lots of things to choose from on a daily basis rather than things that only get worn a few times a year.
You should get the second one because it is amazingly fabulous and very you. The fact that you're currently living the sweater life doesn't mean it will always be that way, right?
