I got this dress for a wedding this past September. I got so many compliments on it, and it was only $54 at Nordstrom. It comes in many colors and is super flattering! It's very versatile and I will wear it to most special occasions in the future.

About that steve madden dress-- I tried it on because I loved it too and there are pockets on the side or what are suppose to be pockets, but are actually big pieces of triangular fabric that you tuck in to be a pocket. However, they don't stay tucked in and end up just putting this awkward fabric around your hips on the dress. I was very sad bc I wanted it for a wedding as well. =(

I love J.Crew dresses and I think they may be a bit too plain for your style, but I think they are classic and fit so well! This one is on sale for $129.
