This usually is not the case, but I am having trouble getting excited about this fall in terms of clothing- -even though it has been so blasted hot and drought-like this summer.
The main reason for my aprehension is having to deal with pant-leg lengths and finding shoes that work. Part of me wants to wear mostly skirts this year so I won't deal with the length issue every morning.
Many pairs of pants have shrunk on me and I feel like I have to buy duplicate pairs of pants so that I can wear them with more than one pair of shoes.
Anyone have some tips to make this easier/less annoying?
I don't think that it's so bad to wear the same pants with the same shoes (or only a couple of pairs of shoes). That's how it is with all of my pants! I have my "flats pants", my "low heels pants" and my "high heels pants".
I love skirts/dresses with tights and wear them year-round (and I live in a place that gets prtty cold/snowy). Iactually orefer skirts in the wet weather becuase the bottoms of my pants always get soggy and make me feel cold and gross all day.
I actually just went out and bought about 10 pairs of pants because I feel like I NEVER wear pants, and I kind of want to start. I wear skirts and dresses 90% of the time, and the other 10% is usually jeans. I bought a bunch of wide leg pants from Anthro, Old Navy, and Romi. I hem most of my pants to heel height, because I HATE the way I look in pants w/ flats. I feel super stubby.
Don't know if this helps, but this is one reason I appreciate cropped pants (assuming they're a good length for your height). You can wear flats or heels with 'em and not sweat it.
When you say they have shrunk, have they become shorter? I have several pairs of pants that I can only wear with flats (the shorter ones) and several I can only wear with heels (the longer ones).

Yes. They have become shorter to the point that they don't look right, even with flats.
Ugh...the pant length issue drives me batty! I'm most comfortable in 2-3 inch heels for work, so 99% of my pants are long enough for those heel heights.
For flats, I have a few pairs of jeans, one pair of khakis, two pairs of dress pants (black and light grey) and a pair of bottle green cords that are short enough for them. Because I don't wear flats a ton (mostly on weekends with jeans), this range of pants covers most of my color/style needs.
I have found that my cotton JCrew khakis have shrunk a little over time, but by the time they do, it's time to replace them anyway. I always play it safe and try to get longer length pants. Then I wash them a few times first before hemming them (which I usually do myself).
Im seeing pencil skirts AND a-line skirts along with the trousers - stick with what you love with NO regrets - that is what makes you truly fashionable
