Great bonding activity for bridesmaids and bride

ViViDogWear's questions reminded me of one of my favorite parts of our wedding. I'd like to share it with you because it turned out to be an awesome bonding experience for the ladies (bride and maids)- - and I'm not a big, "hey! let's bond!" kind of person.

I ordered flowers online from flowerbud.com and another similar site I can't remember. Most were sent to my house, the rest (for site decoration) were sent to my coordinators.

They arrived 2 days before the wedding at my house.

My mom and I snipped the ends, cleaned off the extra leaves and any rose thorns, and put them in big, 5 gal buckets we purchased from HOme Depot. We added food packets I got after begging a local florist to let me buy some. No food came with the flowers.

The day before the wedding, all the maids came over for lunch. After eating, we all sat on the floor in the sunroom and made our own bouquets. I also made the flower girl's bouquet and helped my sis with the boutineirs (sp). Any leftover flowers were sent to coordinators for the museum's decoration.

I kid you not. I have never designed a hand-bouquet before; but I was able to have the bouquets of my dreams this way. I was so excited and pleased- -plus being with my girls was a big deal.

(incidentally), I inserted the wrong month on the other flower order that was supposed to go to the coordinators for museum decor! I indicated September instead of August. The coordinators had to go the farmer's market the day of! Still turned out nice.

White/cream roses
cream roses with slight blush on tips
white spray carnations and
Delphinium
We used the leftover fabric from the hem of each girl's silvery, slate blue gown to wrap the stems.

thanks for the idea!  My mom loves the idea of DIYing our flowers, and I've pretty much left it up to her.  She has a business license so I think we can just buy from a wholesaler, but I'll check out flowerbud.com.
