I just bought a great pair of vintage cowboy boots - honey brown leather, very nice patina and stitched patterns, they are quite understated as cowboy boots go... I love them, but worry that they are going to look hopelessly dated. I didn't buy a pair when they were in, since I try to avoid trends that are too obvious. I tried a bunch of outfits and think they look cute - tried them with a long vintage dress, a simple a-line skirt, and pants (not tucked in). What do you think?
I say go for it. I have a pair of vintage cowboy boots and I wear them from time to time. I get a lot of compliments on them. Sure, they aren't the thing they were a couple years ago, but always cool, IMO.
I think that if they are part of your personal style (and it sounds like they will be, since you can easily make outfits for them), you should get them. They've been around since cowboys have been around, so it's not like they're something new to the fashion scene.
I hate when Hollywood jumps on something so crazily and then deems the trend "over" in a few months or a year. They're all such lemmings. Don't worry about anything except whether or not you really love them. :)
I hope you post TS pics with them. They sound beautiful!

I just moved to Monatana 6 months ago...and I actually want a pair now...and feel like I have the right living in this place haha. I agree with atlgirl, I hate when an item that has been around forever suddenly gets popular, and all of a sudden, the new generation invented them??? PLEASE! Cowboy boots are as classic as apple pie, so wear em'! I mean if you pair them with all denim ( say wranglers??) you may have a few stares, but with cool jeans, and nice sweater, I think they look very fall chic :)
