Question about my cats hair loss?
Permalink Closed

Was wondering if anyone had expeience with this or if I am overreacting?

I have a cat who is about 5 years old now. ALways healthy. Anywho she is loosing hair in HUGE bald spots on her body (not her head). It started about 2 weeks ago. I wasnt sure if it was the heat or if this is a sign of something really serious? She seems normal - eats normal, plays normal, doesnt seem in pain.

Any ideas?

Is the fur falling out on its own, or is she licking/pulling/biting it out/off?  Allergic reaction?  Boredom?  I don't know.  If everything else seems normal, I would make a vet appointment.  Perhaps you can also do a preliminary Google search for possible reasons from other pet owners who have had this experience.

It could be an allergic reaction to something or it could be a symptom of an illness.

I would take you cat int the vet to be sure everything is okay.

I had a long haired cat one time that did that and it was allergies.  However, I would take her to the vet to be sure.
