My nephew who is a very cool 29 year old has given me the task of finding him some amazing black dress shoes but I haven't a clue what's happening with mens dress shoes these days.
He's kind of edgy and a fashion risk taker who showed up last night in a yellow American Apparel T and a pair of great pinstriped pants with black Converse hitops. I'd love to be able to help him out...any suggestions? I already told him to SPEND but if we can keep it under $300 that'd be great. TIA!
OMG, those Maddens are way edgy! Is this a common look for young guys, I guess I've never noticed? My DH likes Bruno Magli and sometimes Johnston and Murphy but I'm thinking his are so stodgy compared to this look. :) I'll definitely check out Cole Haan, love them for myself, Ferragamo too!
I know as a woman, even tho we have so many options for heels, shape of toe box ect. we pretty much know what works and what doesn't but I don't have a clue what is "the" look for young men. Are there any rules? He works in union management but it seems semi casual because he only owns two suits, one tan and one black and rarely wears them.
My Fiancee loves the Cole Haan Santa Barbara with Nike Air. He has three pair just alike so if they wear out or discontinue, he's safe....That kinda sounds like a woman, doesn't it?!!!

They are way edgy! A few of my guy friends love those shoes. I know I got one of them the first pair for Christmas a while back. He loved them. He is a really fashionable guy. So I would say yes, it's a common look for young guys.
You can't go wrong w/Steve Madden or Kenneth Cole. I would go with KC for a little added comfort. My husband has pretty unique and cool taste in clothes & Shoes, and he always goes for KC. Good luck!

Great suggestions, thanks so much!! What do you think of these? I like them but are they too boring? The KC styles might be better? Cole Haan Cole Haan
DARN, I can't seem to copy and paste from the KC site but they do have some amazing shoes. I really had no idea b/c i always pass KC up for myself. I'm seriously thinking of encouraging my DH to get some snazzy new shoes
Oh, and if you have a DSW nearby they usually have lots of KC men's dress shoes. And sometimes so does Bluefly (remember to use the link at the top of the page though).
Yeah, from how you described him, I think he'd be happier with something edgier like the posted Steve Maddens or some of the funkier Kenneth Cole ones.
On a second look I see they are absolutley not what I should be pointing him to. I'm SO glad I have you guys to rely on and keep me from looking like an antiquated old aunt here :) Good tips re DSW/Bluefly FP, thanks!
