Ditto, but I think it could be because I can see the part that your foot will be covering. I would need to see them on a foot before I could say for sure.

I understand the look you are trying to achieve; and I like it. I think they're summery/picnic-worthy. Def with a solid (white, soft pink, navy, chambray, green, khaki) dress is a soft-yet-crisp cotton or linen. I think they could work with slim, dark denim capris and a crisp, white, vintage top too.
I think they are cute. I am loving madras this season, just bought a lil hat in the pattern.
My only concern would be the ankle tie, sometimes a lot going on at the front of the ankle (instead of a back tie) adds a little too much bulk. Try them on and see!
I really like them, and they're very 'Rar' . IMO the ankle ties look like they'd hit at or below the ankle bone and minimize any stumpiness that usually accompanies the higher ties.
I vote CUTE!

I'm OBSESSED with madras right now, and I really like those shoes. I think I'd have to see them on a foot to see if I loved them. I think if the toe area was madras and the ankle ties were beige cotton I *might* like them more though.
With Zappos' return policy, it's probably worth a shot to purchase them and return if they look funny/stumpy on
They do look a little busy, but they'd probably be cute on. Just in case you're looking for more options, since you do sound indecisive about them, I remembered seeing these earlier:
i was just going to post this pair. these are the ones i want.
