Ok, so I got an interview as an assistant store manager for a very trendy upscale boutique in downtown. I just got off the phone with the owner of the store and she seemed very impressed with my background and my enthusiasm.
I have no idea what the pay is, so this may end up not even being an option as far as a job goes..but I figured I might as well go to the interview and meet this woman and hear about the job.
So....What to wear!?!? this is obviously really, really crucial since I am going to be judged mostly on how I present myself and what I'm wearing.
I'm assuming I don't need to wear a suit..but i have no idea what I should wear?! I need your ladies help! If you could point to anything specific in my closet, I would greatly appreciate it.
Do you know what brands the store carries? I wouldn't necessarily go out of your way to wear one of the brands, but I'd wear something that would be similary or complimentary to what they carry.
I absolutely LOVE the DVF you got not long ago! That might be a good option if it isn't too short for an interview.
Based on your TS posts, here are some I think would work:
(although it might be a little short - maybe with some tights if you can still get away with it)
but maybe with a less casual shirt underneath the jacket Love this one - but of course it's a winter outfit. Maybe do something springier on top. Love this dress as well, but not sure if it's interview appropriate, although it is at a boutique...
i would definitely not wear a suit. i think any of the dresses you have would be completely appropriate. i really like the first two that blubirde posted.
I have been to their boutique. These are some of the brands they carry:
* Adam + Eve * Alice & Olivia * Catherine Malandrino * Foley * June * Karanina * Lauren Moffatt * Miguelina * Mike & Chris * Nanette Lapore * Paul & Joe * Rebecca Taylor * Rory Beca * TBags * Yaya
Brazilian, which is the ricrac skirt? Is that the black and white one?
i think just about anything would work because you have a great sense of style. i would just make sure you have one strong accessory (i know that when i worked at bcbg they really liked us using accessories to "complete the look"). the other thing is i would make sure you know what you want out of the interview. it's very easy to get distracted by all the cool clothes that you can get with a discount.
good luck, you'll do great.

ok , my 2 cents as a boutique owner... DONT WEAR A SUIT. It shows a lack of "inspiration" in dressing and usually boutique owners are looking for someone who knows how to put together a outfit that shows you have style. (not that suits are not stylish ...) .
I would go for a dress, some funky shoes and a great bag. Based on your ST pics from threadstyle, almost all your normal clothes seem just perfect for the job interview.
