I have $50 in Bloomingdales reward certificates and a coupon for $25 off any purchase over $100.
What should I do with them?
1. Get the Sam Edelman Celine flats in kelly green. They're $98 but I'd probably add something piddly like a tank top or flips to bring the total over $100 if I had to. With all the discounts I have, they would end up being around $30. I tried them on today and they fit like a gem. I don't have green shoes and I am trying to build a wardrobe of flat but comfy shoes since my lifestyle is pretty casual.
2. Get a pair of jeans. I need at least a pair or two of jeans as my size has fluctuated and my older jeans have worn out. I figure that if I'm eyeing a $150 pair of jeans, I'd be able to get them for $75 after all the discounts.
I'd probably get a wide leg pair that I would hem to wear with flats. I have a great pair of Blue Cult Elite widelegs but they're strictly for my tallest heels.
could you find a pair of jeans you liked that are cheaper? Like from madewell or something, and scrap the $150 ones all together?
I'd choose jeans over shoes most likely, but thats because i need jeans like whoa. but unless you find an amazing pair at bloomies, i wouldn't force it. i'd just get the shoes in that case.
hmm- where'd you get the $25 off coupon? I am eyeing some shoes at bloomies.
I guess you can't get both? I love those shoes! But if you're in super dire need of jeans, like you're doing laundry every couple days just to be able to have something to wear the next day....then jeans would be more practicle.

The $25 off $100 coupon was from when they sent me a new card, as my old one had expired. But Friends and Family is next week...
If Madewell made wide leg jeans, I would've been all over them but they don't. I'm hesitating to buy the skinnies because I know wide leg is a lot more flattering/forgiving even though I can pull both off.
My jeans situation is fairly dire. I own a lot of dresses and skirts though, so it's not like I have to do laundry ever two days just to wear something. I think only two of them actually fit me properly and don't have holes/crap all over.
My shoe situation is dire too, in the sense that this pair would fill a color gap and fit my goal to own the most covetable collection of ridiculously walkable shoes ever.
the shoes. Because honestly, if you really need jeans that badly you'll end up getting them sooner or later anyway. And then you'll have both. Plus, I dont' have in it me to tell someone not to buy shoes...its pretty much against my religion.
If you're like me, you dread trying on and buying jeans (they never fit, they're so expensive and they're rarely all that exciting), but it sounds like this would the perfect opportunity to buy a nice new pair, so that's what I voted for!
I say the Sam Edelman's, because $30 is too good of a deal to pass up! Plus you could always find other places that have discount codes where you wouldn't have to pay tax on jeans either.
I vote for the shoes. I have them and even the men in the office made (good) statements about them. I think about 10 people stopped me during the day and asked, "Where did you get your shoes???"
