I realized the other day that I hadn't received any emails from them in a long time, so I went to check out their site and I couldn't get to it...weird...anyway, just curious if anyone knew anything about it, because I always liked to order from them and they had great sales...
Girlshop.com will reportedly close its virtual doors after nearly a decade in business. The shop's literal doors at the store in the Meatpacking District will follow suit on Sunday.
This is sad news for fashionistas who came to love the boutique whose claim to fame was featuring clothing and accessories by small, emerging designers. What set Girlshop.com apart from other online retailers was its magazine-like look, thanks to founder and graphic designer, Laura Eisman.
"When we launched, the reason we were successful was, we offered unique products and we started this trend for emerging fashion," says Eisman. "Now that it's everywhere, it's made us less unique.
New Yorkers can take advantage of the liquidation sale from Thursday through Sunday at the Meatpacking District store at 819 Washington Street near Gansevoort Street.
i loved this site a few years ago- i thought it was unique. however, any time in the past couple of years i tried to navigate the side, i found it really annoying. I don't think the set-up was very user friendly- shopbop and activeendeavors, etc are a lot easier.
