I've just about busted a gut planning this wedding. We've changed our wedding date 4x by catering it to wedding party members (flower girls & ring bearers school schedules). Now, one of the GM's work schedule conflicts w/our latest date.
As a result, we've thrown in the towel & are heading to Vegas for Memorial Day weekend. My parents will already be there & his parents are only an hour away by flight in Cali. My brother & his family will fly in and we'll tell a few close friends to come.
Overall, it'll be about 20 of us, but exactly what we want. We realized that somewhere along the way, we lost ourselves in the process of trying to please everyone but ourselves. Now that we've agreed upon this I'm SOOOO relieved.
If you get married at treasure island, it's on a pirate boat and the captain marries you. You can even have the ring bearer crawl down from the crow's nest...You should do that!!!
But it sounds like you'll be a lot happier. Have fun! congrats!

Good for you girl. It is your day and you are to be commended for taking charge!! BTW, not to sound tacky, but when all is said and done how much do you think it will cost? I have been thinking a lot about going this route when our big day approaches.

Thanks so much for the support ladies. As much as I thought I wanted my wedding in Hawaii (where 99% of my family lives), I'm really excited about this.
Farrah, I think we're going to get away w/doing it for under $3000 (excluding my ring & any additional meals). We booked a package @ the Monte Carlo which included one-night's stay. PM me & I'll give you more details on what we selected & all the other places I researched.
Good for you! I've been thinking about doing something like this more and more when SO and I get married. I just don't think I'm the big church/reception hall type of girl!
I went to a wedding a couple years ago at the Flamingo Hilton and it was a blast - one of the most fun weddings I've ever been to!
how exciting! i've been engaged for a year and we haven't decided on anything b/c every time i look at a wedding mag i feel completely overwhelmed - i really want to just hop on a plane and go to vegas w/ our families - i completely envy you right now (lol) have fun!!!!
this sounds great! we were semi-planning a wedding before i decided it was what others wanted, and not what *i* (or my husband) wanted. i hope you have a great time!
Aw, congrats! That's how I want to get married, too. I have no desire for a big, expensive wedding that stresses me out (I just want a pretty dress ). Have a great time!
