well I have been putting this off for to long and now I need to get my eyes checked and get new specks. I cant see far away and I have to wear glasses when I drive. My eyes have gotten worse and I dont like the way I look in glasses but since I have to wear them what shape and color should I go for? Most of you know what I look like so I won't post a pic unless it would make it easier. I will take some pic when I go and try on different frames in a few days. TIA
first of all, I think anyone can look good in glasses. The ones I had in high school I didn't really like, but in retrospect I think I just got ones that didn't look good on my face. I've had my "new" pair for a couple years now and they're HOT! The people where you buy your glasses can probably help you pick out frames to suit your skin color and face shape.
But if you really don't like how you look, you could get the rimless ones. My mom has those, and while of course you can still tell she's wearing glasses, it opens up her face a lot more than traditional rimmed ones would.

i think the best bet is an open mind and lots of trial-and-error. what may look good alone will look entirely different on your face, and something that looks way weird will look great on you.
sometime this spring, i need to get new glasses too... my current ones are getting old and i'm tired of my rimless glasses. i'm planning on setting aside a few hours to try on dozens and dozens of frames and driving the lenscrafter people nuts.
I'm getting new glasses on Thursday and I'm so excited! I've had the one's I wear now for almost 6 years.
I think you just need to try on as many pairs as you can get your hands on. Subtle differences in shape can make them look awesome or slightly 'off', so I'd just try on try on try on until you hit a pair that works.
Right now I have slim bronze rims that are a nice shape for my face, so I'm going to get a pair of black plastic rims that have a bit more substance to them. If I can find a rimless or silver pair I like, I'll get those too. If not, I'll probably just have them replace the lenses in my bronze ones.
If you have a pair of sunglasses that you like the shape of on your face, bring them with and look for something in a similar shape, too.

You can also ask the people who work at the optician to suggest different colors that would look good on you based on your hair color, eye color, and skin tone. I recently got glasses for the first time, and the girl that worked with me was SO helpful and knowledgeable about those kinds of things. Obviously shape plays a huge role in how they look on you, but I was surprised at how much color does too. I had been trying on brown and black rims and they looked alright, but once I started trying on different colored ones, I really noticed a difference! I was a bit weary of color at first since I didn't know how all my outfits would go with what I picked, but I finally narrowed it down to green ones that I'm really happy with them. They're funky, but look like a neutral from far away. Maybe that will make the experience a little more fun? HTH!
Wow thanks ladies you made me feel better about wearing themI will keep you updated and who knows I may even be brave enough to show off my new hot look with pics
