Need honest thoughts on this idea please...

Dh and I are almost done with our bedroom. We need something to put over our bed. I was thinking about doing something kind of different...what do you think of a monogram of our initials something like these in a way....

Our bedroom is sort of formal (or at least we are going for that feel) I would make the letters just a little darker than the wall so it wasnt SUPER obvious...is it too much?

eta: maybe something like this but with the middle letter a little bigger

I think that's a good idea, really. If you're already going for a formal feel, and making it a color that's not super obvious makes it perfect.

I'm obsessed with monograms so I really, really love the idea.  I like the phrases, as well, though that doesn't seem as 'formal' to me.  More... whimsy, I think.  (Ha, the 'Wish it, Dream it, Do it' makes me giggle, darn my dirty mind!)  Anyway, I like the first and third fonts best.  I think it'll look so nice, especially the way you plan to make it not so obvious.  Very classy and elegant.

I love that idea! I think it will look great. I like the first font better.

I like the idea!  I like the first font the best--it seems the most formal of the three, but not stuffy.  The second font is the most casual of the three, in my opinion.

The "Wish It, Dream It, Do It" quote is cute, but in the bedroom above the bed it takes on quite a naughty connotation to me.

I like it, I think it'd look very classy.  Post pics after you're finished.

Me, not so much. I would find it tacky and it might be dangerous for resale, among other reasons. I would almost favor a generic saying as pictured, rather than initials, which is really personal. Or an abstract design. But who cares what I think...

They look permanent, but they're actually similar to wallpaper. They can be removed and may need a little touch-up paint, but by no means permanent.

JMR - I like the idea, and the Vivaldi font is my favorite.

honestly- i think i'd prefer a framed print/crossstitch of your initials- whatever, to having them wallpapered on. I think 3 letters painted on the wall would look really random and hate to say it, could look tacky. I'd strongly prefer the tonal initials in a smaller room- master bathroom maybe- where there is less space on the wall.

I seen this pic in the new potterybarn kids catalog last night and thought of this thread.  I think it looks really nice:
