I'm excited about it too, but I'm kind of not at the same time. I'm afraid she's going to kill off either Ron, Hermione, or Harry and I just don't think I'm prepared to deal with that.

she said 2 characters will die, right? I really feel like Harry will die. He occupies a real Christ-like position in the book IMO. I don't think Ron & Hermione will go. They will end up riding off into the sunset together.

I'm really afraid Harry will die too! I read that two characters are supposed to die too, and think one of them will be a Weasley, just because they're such a large family. Ahhhh, the suspense! If Harry gets killed that would be so depressing.

I'm afraid it's going to be even worse. Rowling has said that "two die that I didn't intend to die". That probably means that several people will die, and two of them are people she was initially going to spare.
I just hope my favorite characters will make it, including Ron and Hermione.
I am also going to re-read them before this one is published. I have a very interesting theory about the death of a character at the end of the 6th book (name withheld as to not spoil it for those that have not yet read "Half-Blood Prince") that I would like to get some support for. I believe that my theory can be supported with information in the first 6 books.
It shouldn't take too long to re-read them all though. Once I pick them up I can not put them down so I usually finish them in less then a weekend.

Farrah, PM me with your theory! I've been re-reading them too (just finished book 6, and started on book 5).

I'd love to hear your theory too. Maybe we can start a thread with SPOILERS in the title so people who haven't read the books will know not to look.
I'm also planning on re-reading the books before the new one comes out. I just have about a gazillion other books to get through first.
