I did look into the Buyers Remorse law in CA and if the dealer did not offer one, you have the option of "buying" a buyers remorse period which should have been about $700. Plus he had to have done it in advance - before driving off the lot. He went to a privately owned (IMO sleazy) used car lot, if he would have gone to a reputable dealer I'm sure he could have taken it back. My car had a 30 day buyers remorse period on it.
So he apologized after I explained again how much this hurt me and how I was PO'd about pushing the whole house thing out more time. We sat down and talked again and this time he promised he understands "WE" includes him too. "We" decided that one of the two will happen:
1) We will repair his credit & he MUST refi/transfer the loan to a lower interest loan within 6 months.
2) If he cant handle the DOUBLED insurance cost and new truck payment AND continue saving for our house as we had initially decided, he will sell it ASAP and take the loss.
In the back of my mind I'm still upset every time I see him pull up in it, but since he cant take it back, we're pretty much stuck w/the thing for a least a few more months. We drove by the used car place this weekend on the way from the mall and we saw his trade on the side of the lot. I almost made DH pull over to steal his old truck back, but I remembered I cant drive stick!
