My bf and his daughters are planning on going to key west this summer for about 2 weeks. Most likely in July. An last night my bf asked me to come along.
So I looked it up last night online and outside of scuba diving,it just looks like it would be very boring for me.
I was wondering if any of you have been there?
What did you do while you were there?
Did you enjoy your time there?
TIA

My dad lives there and my aunt has a place so I'm there a lot. I can PM you a link to some of my pics if you want to look. I always enjoy my time there...it's an island town but with a New Orleans kind of twist to it...lots of live music, bars etc. I spend a lot of time on or in the water there and it's great for diving, fishing, etc. I don't consider it a place to go if I just want to lay on the beach (the beaches are okay but small and not as nice as other places in Florida). It will be nice and hot in July! Two weeks is a long time but you could find stuff to do depending on how much you want to be in the water.
Water sports: I love diving. If it's something you want to try I can get you in contact with a place that does great resort dives (you don't have to be certified and you're with an instructor the whole time). There are a lot of great snorkeling/sunset cruises you can take and there really are some pretty reefs out there, and the sunsets are great. My favorite thing to do the last few years has been to go kayaking in the mangroves. That is usually a day trip they drop you off at Sugarloaf key and then a guide takes you around and you can snorkel. If you like deep sea fishing that's fun to do there too.
Shopping: Most of Key West is fully of touristy t-shirt shops. There is a nice Coach factory outlet and a few boutiques that I like to visit every time I'm there. The main street (Duval) is about a mile long and usually I turn that into a bar/shopping crawl and usually after 4 mojitos I buys something truly hideous :)
Food and drink: There are a TON of bars and great places to get seafood. If you like seafood you'll love Key West.
sight-seeing: The thing I like most about Key West is that everything is walking distance and I enjoy walking around looking at all the houses and cats, and flowers, and yards...enjoying the tropical scenery. There is Hemingway's house, the Truman Annex, the cemetery, the shipwreck museum, lots of tropical foliage to enjoy, the southern most mansion (beautiful and you used to could pay 8 bucks and lay out by their pool after touring the mansion too). You can also take a boat out to the dry Tortugas which is an old fort that takes up a whole day but is pretty. Sunset festival - every night at Mallory square they have the "sunset celebration" lots of people, street performers and stuff.
Anyway if you don't think you'd want to walk around outside in the heat or get out or in the ocean much you'd probably be pretty bored. Otherwise it might be fun and two weeks would give you a ton of time to see everything.
Wow thanks so very much Halah, that sounds much better then the websites made it sound. I love water sports so I could see myself spending alot of time doing that, and I love sea food. I was more worried about it being one of those lay on the beach all day kind of places.
I was worried about killing to weeks worth of time there, but that sounds now like there would be enough things to see and do.
